Good Morning.  It's Monday, November 6, 2006, and this is your first early morning Multi-Cultural briefing.

HISPANIC MARKET:

ESPN and the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League signed a deal to bring winter league baseball from Venezuela to the network for the first time.  Under the terms of the agreement, ESPN Deportes will have the exclusive media rights, airing one regular-season game per week, plus exclusive rights to selected playoff games and Championship Series coverage. ESPN Deportes Radio and ESPNdeportes.com will also have the opportunity to use the games.   As a result of this new acquisition, the Dominican Baseball League games' Wednesday airing will be rescheduled to Friday nights at 630p.  The first Venezuelan baseball game will air on November 8.

New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc. has inked a new four-year multi-million dollar deal with Sesame Workshop to be a sponsor in the U.S. for both Sesame Street and Plaza Sesamo. Additionally, New Balance will serve as the exclusive national sponsor of Sesame Street Presents: The Body, an interactive touring exhibit, for 2007-1010. The TV sponsorship, which begins this month and runs through December 2007, launches today with a New Balance Kids (:15) bi-lingual spot (English/Spanish) that will air at the top and bottom of the hour of the 1-hr series on PBS stations. Also included under the partnership New Balance will be integrated into several online elements, including on sesamestreet.com, and print campaigns that will run in Sesame Street magazine and Sesame Street newsletters. New Balance will also be integrated into areas of Sesame Street Presents: The Body, which is part of Sesame Workshop's Healthy Habits/Habitos Saludables para Toda La Vida initiative, and New Balance will also work with Ryan Partnership to mesh the sponsorship into activities at select retailers.  A Spanish-language version of Sesame Street , Plaza Sesamo's is co-produced by Sesame Workshop and Mexico's Televisa, and airs in select PBS markets.

Bromley Communications received a subpoena last week to divulge information about its media buying for Univision's networks over the past decade as the Hispanic agency gets caught in the middle of the well-known Univision-Grupo Televisa legal battle.  The Publicis-owned agency announced that it will comply with the action.  The reason for subpoena stems from issues with a provision in the two companies' Program License Agreement which states that Univision must pay the Mexican media company 7.5% of combined net time sales.  The dispute in this case rises from correct sales amount questions according to HispanicAd.

Univision's telecast of the 7th Annual Latin Grammy Awards on Thursday night reached over 11.3 million viewers with 5.7 million average viewers and was also the #1 program in its time period in a number of major markets among key demos including A18-34, 18-49, and Teens 12-17, regardless of language. According to Nielsen Media Research's Fast NTI Ratings, the broadcast attracted the highest audience of Teens 12-17 in the history of the Latin Grammy Awards, with an 57% increase over last year's event.  In LA, the program was #1 for the time period among Persons 2+ and A18-34, 18-49, and Teens 12-17, regardless of language. In New York, the program was #1 among A18-34, 18-49, and Teens 12-17 as well. It was also #1 among A18-34 in Chicago, Dallas, and San Francisco, and it was #1 in Households in Miami.

Casting Call: SiTV is looking for rappers, ranters, poets and just plain folks' opinions on various topics for its new Flow & Tell music video series.  Set to debut in 2007, the show mixes people's thoughts with music videos. It will visit San Antonio on November 7 (11a-5p). More info at www.sitv.com .

AFRICAN AMERICAN MARKET:

Snoop Dogg has been added to BET's lineup for its 2006 BET Hip-Hop Awards coming up next week.  The hip-hopper and comedian/actor host Katt Williams will be joined by newly announced artists including Ludacris, Young Jeezy, T.I. & Young Dro, The Game, and Lil Wayne & Baby. The participant roster will also have Diddy, Lupe Fiasco and Rick Ross, Remy Ma, and many others when it airs on November 15 at 9p.

INTERNATIONAL MARKET:

Media Prima, a Malaysian media company, has acquired all 52x30 episodes of Ultimate Guinness World Records, 18x60 eps of Guinness World Records: UK, and the 120-minute special, Guinness World Records: 50 Years, 50 Records.  The shows will be broadcast on TV3, Malaysia's free-to-air TV network.

ADV Films picked up the North American theatrical, video and TV rights to features Ghost Train and Synesthesia from Shochiku.  In addition, the U.S-based Japanese animation producer/distributor acquired the video, TV and VOD rights to series Le Chevalier D'Eonfor North America, the U.K., Australia and English-speaking African areas.

U.K.-based 3DD Entertainment will be taking a slew of factual and fantasy shows back home from the American Film Market following exclusive distribution agreements with Koch Entertainment and Hidden Treasures Productions.  3DD took Faerie Tale Theatre (26x60) and Tall Tales & Legends (9x60 - all rights except for DVDs in North America) from Koch.  The worldwide DVD rights to the two-part Secrets of The Occult documentary special were acquired from Hidden Treasures Productions as well (excluding North America).
