What is the National Catholic Committee on Scouting®

The National Catholic Committee on Scouting® (NCCS) is a church committee of concerned Catholic lay people and clergy who see as their mission the constructive use of the program of the Boy Scouts of America as a viable form of youth ministry with the Catholic youth of our nation.

The committee, which is advisory to the Boy Scouts of America, seeks to sustain and strengthen the relationship between BSA and the Catholic Church in the United States.

Through interaction and dialogue with the Secretariat on the Laity and Family Life (the formal connection between youth ministry in the United States and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops), NCCS works cooperatively with various other groups involved in youth ministry in the United States.

NCCS Renewal Process
Many thanks to everyone who completed the Feedback Survey and participated in feedback phone calls. Response was tremendous and your perspective and ideas invigorating! School & Main Institute staff presented survey findings and recommendations at the NCCS Executive Committee meeting in Dallas, October 13th and to those attending the Louisville biennial conference in April. An NCCS task force is reviewing recommendations and will be proposing how we might implement your suggestions. As always, we welcome your continued input! Learn more about the Renewal process, review survey findings, or provide feedback.

Pray the Rosary activity

A new rosary activity, How to Pray the Rosary, is now available. The previous four activities in the "The Rosary Patch Series" focused on the different mysteries of the Holy Rosary. This new activity is designed to help the youth and adults understand "How to Pray the Rosary". This new activity is the fifth and final activity in the "The Rosary Patch Series." Similar to the previous activities, all youth and adults are eligible to work on this program. Upon completion of this activity, the scouts or units can purchase the "Pray the Rosary" patch ($4.00) using the order information. Click here to see the requirements for the How to Pray the Rosary patch.
