Contest Information

Welcome to the new (and still technically being worked on) GamerNode contest section! In this section you'll be able to find weekly (most of the time) contests for GN members, with prizes ranging from hats and pens to video games and... pens! (Also, stuff like shirts, posters, peripherals, etc.)

Contests will range from fun things like Photoshop and Create-A-Pun to random drawings based on the amount of article comments and forum posts or topics you’ve made that week. Also, you never know when a STEALTH contest is running (ohhhhh) so be sure to post and comment just in case!

Qmotions Xboard

Category: Industry, Posted: 04/03/2008 at 05:59PM CDT by Brendon Lindsey, Editor-in-Chief

It's time for the second contest of Unofficial Contest Week(s) here at GamerNode. This time, the prize is a little bigger, but 100% devoid of Pauly Shore. After some guessing (and sexual propositions?) from several community members, the time to unveil Contest Two is upon us.

Are you still waiting for a Wii? Or do you own a PS2 but crave something with motion sensing controls that is actually fun? If so, you're in luck. We're giving away four Qmotion Xboards! What's an Xboard, you ask? I'm glad you asked!

"The Qmotions Xboard is a full motion Game Controller that translates your body movement and converts it into fluid action within your favorite snow or skate boarding game. Plug and play for your PS2, this unique game controller can transformer your living room or den into a skate park or...

GamerNode Contest time! (Win Pauly Shore [on DVD]!...

Category: Industry, Posted: 03/31/2008 at 11:53PM CDT by Brendon Lindsey, Editor-in-Chief

Bio-Dome; A Goofy Movie; Encino Man. Other than being three pieces of 20th century cinema so great that one day our great great great great great grandchildren will see them and go "Wow, they were way cooler than I thought they were when I learned about them in school!", they also have another thing in common: Mr. Pauly Shore. The well-known stand-up comedian and early 90s comedy megastar is back in the all new Natural Born Komics, the follow-up to the cult hit Pauly Shore is Dead.

For those among you who have a secret loving of Pauly Shore's material, yet wouldn't be caught dead buying it in a store in front of friends, now's your chance to own Natural Born Komics, as I've been hooked up with three DVDs to give away to our readers. To make things even more exciting, one random winner will ...

Holiday Contest 2: Orange Box

Category: Industry, Posted: 11/25/2007 at 04:28PM CST by Brendon Lindsey, Editor-in-Chief

"On the second day of Christmas, Valve gave to me, the Orange Box on Stee-eam!"

Our next contest is for five copies of Orange Box on Steam. Rather than blow my Orange Box load all at once, I thought I'd spread the loving out a little bit over the course of the next few weeks. What that means is this week, one winner will get Orange Box. Next week, two winners will get Orange Box. The final week, two winners will get Orange Box and an additional prize which will be revealed sometime closer to then.

For the first two weeks, the contest is a simple throwback to our "Just be active!" contest mixed with a little Photoshop action and some poetry fun. All you have to do is post comments on news stories, reviews, and all the stuff on the frontpage (not the forums, this time) and you'll be entered ...

Win RACE 07 + more in GN's first Holiday Contest

GamerNode Contests

It's basically November now, and to me, that's when the Christmas season officially starts. (Screw you, Thanksgiving.)

What's that mean? I'm in a giving mood. Moreso than normal. Starting now until the end of the Christmas season (which may or may not be Christmas itself) GamerNode is partnering up with several developers and publishers to bring you GamerNode Holiday Season Giveaways! What's this mean? Normally our contests result in a single prize for one lucky person. But for now, they'll result in multiple prizes (or single!) for multiple people!

Starting off we've got a doozy of a game: RACE 07. As you can see from Frank's review (and if you talk at all to Sean), it's a pretty fun game, although racing fans will certainly get more out of it. But what everyone loves no matter their hobbi...

Halo 3 is just around the corner, and I'm in a good mood. (Even though my Red Wings just finished the worst hockey season ever [I don't know if it is, I don't watch hockey] in NHL Live 08.)

Despite my crushing defeats, it's time once again for a GamerNode 100% Grade-A Certified Contest! What's on the line this time, you ask? Why, I reply, a brand-new copy of Stranglehold for the Xbox 360. (If you don't have an Xbox 360, you can always exchange it for another copy or give it away as an awesome Christmas present, sure to guarantee you'll have at least one friend this holiday season. I may also be able to acquire a PC version in addition, but don't make me swear on that.)

The rules of this contest are simple. It's another random drawing, but this time it's not going to be focused in the forum ...

In case you missed it, someone won Contest 2

Category: Contests, Posted: 09/02/2007 at 05:19PM CDT by Brendon Lindsey, Editor-in-Chief

The winner of the second contest (the posting one) was jambo. In commemoration of his victory (which, oddly enough, were the same odds USC had against Idaho) I have taken several seconds to write a short limerick (in the full story) in honor of everyone's favorite UT3 and Bioshock obsessed Australian.

Congrats, mate.

In other news, look for Contest 3 to start later this week. The prize? Wouldn't you like to know!

Make sure you check back every now and then this week, because while I can't tell you what it is, I can tell you that it's something better than a hat/shirt/mousepad/etc., but not as good as the guitar. (Or is it? You'll have to find out!)

Ode to Sir jambo

There once was an Aussie named jambo, who people complained posted spam-bo.People would boastthat they'd out-post his postsBut he...

It's time, ladies and gentlemen, to reveal the winner of the I Can Play Guitar contest. It was a journey filled with danger, romance, and even slapstick comedy.

Several entered (some more than others), but only one can leave the Dome alive.

Who is it that won? I'll give you a hint: it wasn't me.

You can head over to the official I Can Play Guitar contest topic to see who won for yourself. And remember: just because the contest is over doesn't mean you can't still enjoy the images.

Let the contest season begin! (Again!)

I've already mentioned previously that our I Can Play Guitar! contest was an early example of future things to come from GN. Thankfully, it wasn't a complete bomb which left me devoid of any will to actually give stuff away to you guys, rather than keep it for myself.

So what happens now? Well, the start of the official GamerNode contest season! (I just like saying that; it makes me feel like Bob Costas.)

How does it work? It's fairly simple, but remains so incredibly complex that only I and a team of trained scientist monkeys understand the true purpose of the rules. I'll let you guys have a shot anyway, though.

To participate, all you need to do is be here, and be active. What's that mean? Post comments in stories. Participate in discussions on the forum. Start new topics. Don't spam or s...

First GamerNode contest! I Can Play Guitar! (OVER)...

Category: Contests, Posted: 08/08/2007 at 03:44PM CDT by Brendon Lindsey, Editor-in-Chief

I'd like to announce the start of GamerNode contests, contests which registered users can participate in to win prizes and avoid The Pit.

The contests were officially set to launch next week, but much like that one forum member who pretended he was a mobster, I got an offer I couldn't refuse.

Click the full story to check it out, and be sure to enter! You can be the first winner EVER!

Inspired by Guitar Hero comes I Can Play Guitar, a guitar controller that attaches to your TV and lets you rock out. (Or not, depending on your definition of rock.) Unlike Guitar Hero, this was made with education in mind, and it will teach you chord placements and all that fun stuff. If you're looking to learn to play the guitar but still want to play some sort of game, want another video game guitar to add...
