As a community education resource volunteer (CERV) in Peace Corps Nepal, I was a catalyst for the founding of four environmental youth groups which spawned several community leaders. In order to learn more about international conservation, I extended my Peace Corps service and transferred to Peace Corps Guatemala and worked at a wildlife refuge operated by The Nature Conservancy. While working in Guatemala, I recognized the pivotal role of science in long-term conservation, so in 2000, I enrolled in San Jose State University’s Environmental Studies graduate program. To complete my master’s degree, as a Fulbright Scholar, I conducted research on the status of the red panda in the Ilam region of the Panchthar-Ilam-Taplejung corridor. These experiences provided me with a strong foundation for successfully creating The Red Panda Project and reinforced my conviction that conservation can be achieved only with long-term commitment. Now is the time to capitalize on promises I have made to myself and to a community and region that has captivated my spirit. Dawn Moya Director, Business Development Dawn.moya@redpandaproject.org I have experience founding and running several businesses and am excited to be a part of this diverse, fun team. Together, we are making a difference for red panda and South Asia. Jennifer Freitas Office Manager Jennifer.freitas@redpandaproject.org I am excited to be a part of the RPP team, which has enabled me to apply all my professional experience to advance the RPP mission and vision. I earned an AA degree in Business and a BA in PreLaw Studies at Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania in 1992. I also have 15 years Professional Chef experience and attended the Apprenticeship program at the American Culinary Federation in Orlando, Florida. I currently own and operate have2organize, an organizational business that assists multiple clients in Home and Office Organization. I am a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers and volunteer my free time to Adopt-A-Highway and other community services. Brian Graham Membership Coordinator brian.graham@redpandaproject.org I have always been fond of nature and felt a very special kinship with it. I originally obtained a bachelor's degree in Linguistics from San Jose State University and after working for several years in the computer technical support field, I decided I needed to pursue a new career more in tune with my affinity for nature and my desire to protect the environment. So, two years ago, I started to go back to school, pursuing an associate's degree in Environmental Stewardship from De Anza College. Next year, I will be continuing my education by pursuing a bachelor's degree in Wildlife at Humboldt State University and probably later a master's degree, as well. In my spare time, I enjoy writing poetry and three of my poems were recently published in De Anza's student literary journal, Red Wheelbarrow, one of which, "Nuts", won Second Prize in the 2007 Red Wheelbarrow Awards for Poetry. Paula Chang Website designer/Webmaster paula.chang@redpandaproject.org www.paulachang.com I am a recent graduate of the BFA Graphic Design Program at San Jose State University, and a designer at SolutionSet, where I focus on creating corporate brand strategies and websites. As a freelance web designer, I do web and identity design for small, start-up, and non-profit businesses/organizations. I have been with Red Panda Project for 3 years so far, and I continue to enjoy learning and growing with the team. See our Nepal Team » |
