TUC presents vulnerable worker report to PM
The TUC Commission on Vulnerable Employment this afternoon met the Prime Minister to present the Commission's final report to the Government. The Commission, which was chaired by TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber, included leading employers and civil society representatives alongside senior trade unionists. The report, which was produced on 7 May, highlighted the gross exploitation and abuse found among an estimated 2 million workers in the UK today.

TUC on agency workers agreement
The TUC Executive today (Tuesday) agreed a proposed joint statement with the Government and the CBI on agency workers, subject to agreement by the TUC General Council, which meets later this week.

Mixing ages at work can be a recipe for success
It is one year ago since the Employment Equality Age Regulations came into force with the goal of removing ‘age' barriers to work and progression in work. At the time, employers in the Northern region and the TUC gave a general welcome to the new regulations as a nudge in the right direction, a mechanism for enabling and encouraging employers to make the most of the talent in the labour pool in the region.
