Memory Stick Duo™
About Memory Stick Duo™ Folder Structure
The Memory Stick Duo™ is the storage media used by
the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system. It can be used to store game
data, music, videos, photos and other downloaded content. In order to view,
play, or use saved content on a PSP®, the content must be saved in a
compatible file format to specific folders on a Memory Stick
Duo™.
The folder structure on the Memory Stick Duo™
uses similar categories to the XMB™ (Xross Media
Bar), such as PHOTO, MUSIC and VIDEO. When you format a Memory Stick
Duo™ (see Formatting a Memory Stick
Duo™), the correct file structure is created.
Each type of content must be saved to the folder specified for that content.
For example, music files must be saved to the MUSIC folder and video files
must be saved to the VIDEO folder. Files saved anywhere other than their
specific folders are not recognized or accessible on the PSP®.
Folder Structure
The main PSP® content folders on your Memory Stick Duo™
are:
- PICTURE - for storing all photo/image files
- VIDEO - for storing all movie/video files
- MUSIC - for storing all music/audio files
- GAME - for storing game data
You can create subfolders inside the VIDEO / MUSIC / PICTURE folders. However,
additional subfolders within the first level of subfolders are not recognized
by the PSP® and can not be viewed on the PSP®.
