THE HEAD OF THE IOC SAID the organization was reviewing the route of the Olympic torch relay -- but would not cancel any legs of its journey around the world because of anti-Chinese protests.  2:53 p.m.
The Bank of England looks increasingly likely to cut interest rates with news that U.K. house prices last month took their sharpest tumble in nearly 16 years.

TomTom cut financial estimates for 2008, citing weak demand for its navigational devices despite lower prices.
Novartis agreed to buy eye-care company Alcon from Nestlé for about $39 billion, moving into a fast-growing area of health care. Nestlé is now expected to be in the market for smaller acquisitions as it looks to bulk up its nutrition business.
