The Manga Cyber Violator - The Real Cyber Demon!
Jan 24 '02
Pros Enormous, well sculpted and scary figure that oozes cool.
Cons May be hard to find now, as this is one of McFarlane's most popular figures.
The Bottom Line This action figure is an awesome metallic demon that'd carve the rest to shreds. Definately worth checking out.

From the Spawn Manga II series, I present the Manga Cyber Violator. As mentioned before, I'm a big fan of demon figures, and this is simply a figure I couldn't pass up on. McFarlane Toy's SPAWN line had two series devoted to Manga varients of the Spawn characters; the first, a deciesively boring line with bizarre sculpts of some of the main characters. Even though this line was made over two years ago, it still warms pegs throughout comic stores today. The second series took a new edge; the characters were sculpted in robotic-mecha style, with lots of blades, mechanical bits and articulation. Each one was awesome, including a mechanical Freak with extendable arms holding weapons & a robotic armed Spawn, but this particular one is my favourite.
In the Spawn comic, the Violator is an enormous lanky demon from Hell; one of the Phelibiac Brothers, his enormous mouth suffers extreme overbite, towering over his small body of whose enormous, skinny limbs hold his demonic self. His head is covered in three horrid horns, above and to the sides of his evil, starring eyes. In the translation to a mecha-demon, the Manga Cyber Violator stands tall as an enormous, lanky robot, covered in metal and machinery, adorned with spikes and blades laced with the blood of his enemies. It's a perfect translation, and it oozes cool as a sight to behold.
The Manga Cyber Violator is a huge figure, standing over ten inches tall. I'm amazed they could fit such a figure onto a card; he's one of the biggest figure's I've ever seen, especially for the Spawn series. His legs are five inches long, adorned with articulation at the knee, feet and hip; enormous feet spiked with metal and black, his legs are covered in spikes and machinery, leading up to his body. He has a metallic bodice with matching pieces of armor on either side, protecting various wires and computer parts inside. Directly above is the enormous head, painted with glowing yellow eyes, and a wide metallic grin with thick sharp teeth splattered in blood. The mouth is over three inches long, and it's scary. Around his head are the biggest, sharpest spike/horn/blades I've ever seen; seven in all, the two biggest with articulation. Huge, lumbering arms stretch out with pnuematics, cogs and electronics, each with articulation at the hands, elbows, wrists and ball jointed shoulders. One arm also has an articulated blade weapon. The arms are so long that from one hand to the other the Manga Cyber Violator is nineteen inches long. Although the figure is mostly painted in chrome metal paint, his various electronic gadgets are painted in a similar black scheme and the whole monster is splatted in blood. It's very, very effective, and the whole thing weighs in with over 20 spots of articulation.
And boy, does this make him posable. He can do all kinds of monsterous things, from rip other figures to shreds, to lie on the ground staring at his next victim. He stands well, even with the articulation, and always looks menacing. He's the real cyber-demon, and a super cool figure that will please demon- and mecha- figure collectors equally. The only complaint that can be made to him is one that is suffered by all of the Manga II series; an experimental soft plastic was used by McFarlane to make this figure, and in hot conditions, it can cause him to topple easy. But it hasn't effected me much, I'm in the 30 degree celcius Australian heat. I definately recommend this cool figure, and suggest to toy companies that they make more demonic cyber figures, since this guy is awesome. Fans of this figure will also like the rest of the Manga II series, and probably McFarlane Toy's later Interlink 6 and Nitrorider series, all with a techno/mecha theme. Bring it on!
