Ever since I can remember, my mind worked overtime thinking about all the dreadful events that could happen to my loved ones or me. I worried about major tragedies: plane crashes, rape, cancer. I even worried about minor situations: missing a payment due date, wearing the wrong thing to a social outing, having bad breath.

The Princess Diaries What I learned about beauty from a froufrou prom dress
Recently, the newspaper I work for sent me to cover an event called Cinderella's Closet, sponsored by a small group of Christian women. They'd collected more than 300 prom and bridesmaid dresses and transformed the fellowship hall of their church into a one-day boutique and invited local high school girls to come and choose a dress to wear to promfor free.
