Walk of Game

Walk of Game is a year-round attraction honoring the icons and pioneers of the video game industry.

Walk of Game is located inside Metreon, a Mecca for gamers on Fourth and Mission Streets in the heart of downtown San Francisco. The San Francisco Bay Area is the Hollywood of games, and employs one of the greatest concentrations of game creators in the world.

Gamers worldwide cast their votes through paper ballots and online submissions at www.WalkOfGame.com during a one-month voting period every October 1-31. The top four Games/Characters and the top two Lifetime Achievers are then honored with a permanent 24"x24", customized steel star on Walk of Game. 2005 inaugural inductees include Nolan Bushnell (co-Founder of Atari and creator of Pong ), Shigeru Miyamoto (creator of Donkey Kong and Mario Bros .) Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, Halo and Link ( The Legend of Zelda ). This year's inductees are John Carmack (Technical Director, id software - developers of Doom and Quake) and Sid Meier ( Civilization), in the Lifetime Achievement category, and EverQuest, Final Fantasy , Lara Croft ( Tomb Raider ), and StarCraft, as favorite Games/Characters.

The list of nominees is compiled from a survey of industry members and technology, entertainment, and gaming media. SCA Interactive, a leader in online promotions, powers the Walk of Game voting interface. Nominations for 2007 will be announced later this year.

New to Walk Of Game's attraction in 2006, gaming fans can also come and experience why these games are the voters' choice at the Walk of Game Station - 12 unique stations featuring inducted games.
