Foul play? Soccer star's speeding case kicked out

Hey, is this cool or what? Mamelodi Sundowns player Lerato Chabangu and his lawyer have shown us how to get off speeding fines – even very big ones for being very, very bad and going very, very fast.

According to The Times, they pair sat patiently at "the wrong court" in Randburg for some hours and their non-appearance resulted in the magistrate issuing a warrant for the soccerist's arrest, presumably for contempt of court.

The Metro cops, there as witnesses to the crime of driving at 207km/h, were sent off.

Whereafter the wily Chabangu and his lawyer rocked up at the now unlevel playing field, said they'd been sitting on the wrong bench, the warrant was cancelled and, with the witnesses sidelined, beak Sazi Nyathi awarded Chabangu the goal.

Like I said, how cool is that? - The Editor

Morais the man to beat at Scribante
HE'S GOT THE WORLD BY THE TAIL: Sheridan Morais (Kawasaki) has yet to be beaten in 2008.

April 24, 2008

The third round of the 2008 SA Superbikes will be run on Saturday (April 26) at Port Elizabeth's Aldo Scribante circuit, a tight and twisty track that lends itself to close racing.

The Eastern Cape's enthusiastic (and often very vocal) motorsport fans will provide plenty of encouragement, especially for 2007 SA Superbike champion, local hero and all-round nice guy Arushen Moodley.

But the rider with the unbeaten record so far in 2008 - four wins from four starts! - is former SA Superbike champion Sheridan Morais (Kawasaki), who has dominated the series so far but could find the going a little more difficult at Scribante
Seller is the only rider to have got in front of Morais in 2008
.

Works Yamaha rider Clinton Seller has been prone to crashing in the past but looks more mature this season; he's the only rider to have got in front of Morais in 2008 year – and he might just be able to do that on the finish line of this tight and technical circuit.

Reigning champion Moodley (Suzuki) is third in the championship but has yet to produce his best form in 2008; expect him to pull out all the stops on his home circuit.

Former champion Shaun Whyte (Yamaha) and Robert Portman (Suzuki) have also under-achieved so far in 2008 while former Supersport champion Greg Gildenhuys is settling in nicely on a Honda Fireblade.

But the boykie to watch will be Morais' team mate, 2007 Supersport champion Christopher Leeson, who made a huge impression at Killarney. You can't buy experience over the counter but Leeson looks to be one for the future
It's likely to boil down to a battle between Morais and Seller
.

Veteran Trevor Crookes (Suzuki) and Yamaha riders Brad Stark and Tertius de Lange all have the potential to upset applecarts but it's more likely to boil down to a battle between Morais and Seller with Moodley, Whyte and Leeson running interference.

600cc Supersport

Leeson and Gildenhuys are Supersport graduates and there are some hugely talented youngsters set to follow in their footsteps.

Dane Hellyer (Kawasaki) is leading the series and will be the man to beat at Scribante but James Egan, Graeme Green and Dylan White (each on a Yamaha) and Jaques Peskens' Honda are all capable of winning.

Leave veteran Suzuki rider Graeme van Breda (he's 33!) out of the equation at your peril but don't ignore young Steven Odendaal (Suzuki), making a big impression in his first season at this level, either.
