I can't think of a better thing for disgraced astronaut Lisa Nowak to do than hide her head under a coat. Yes, her story is very sad. It's embarrassing. It will probably end her career.

But the worst thing about it: She hogged media attention that needed to be focused on last week's tornado devastation, the dead victims, the needy survivors and the government aid.

Nowak obviously hadn't been reading newspapers or watching television when she decided to drive from Texas to Orlando and confront a romantic rival. Perhaps if Nowak had been keeping up on the news, she would have decided against rolling into this community, which has more pressing matters.
