#1. ANNAPURNA
(26,545 ft.)

Located in Central Nepal, Annapurna is the tenth highest peak in the world but arguably the most dangerous. About 130 climbers have summited the avalanche-prone mountain, but 53 have died trying — making the fatality rate of 41% the highest in the world. Frenchmen Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal reached the top in 1950, making the pair the first mountaineers to summit a peak higher than 26,000 ft.
