Tennant sticks with Who

David Tennant has confirmed he is staying put as Dr Who for a little while longer.

Despite keeping mum after a recent meeting with the BBC, the actor has told the Wales on Sunday that, "From the moment I took the job there has been speculation I was leaving. I'm having the time of my life and I wouldn’t want it any other way at the moment."

The next finale is nearing in the UK, but the series has only just kicked off in Australia where it had 928,000 viewers on the ABC.

It Takes Seven. Again.

Week 26 saw no real change in the weekly trends of 2007.

Seven won with 29.% to Nine's 27.1%, Ten's 21.7%, the ABC's 17% and SBS' 5.1%.

Seven won Monday, Tuesday and Friday nights, taking out all cities except Brisbane. Nine won Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday with a weekly win in Brisbane again, not enough for Eddie to leave the CEO role smiling.

It Takes Two moved to become the #1 show of the week for the first time. Seven's other strong shows were Grey's Anatomy, Seven News, Today Tonight, All Saints, Desperate Housewives, and Where Are They Now. The Morning Show continued a formidable lead over its opponents.

60 Minutes remains Nine's top show followed by CSI, CSI Miami, National Nine News, RPA Where Are They Now, ACA, 1 vs 100, Getaway, What's Good for You and McLeod's Daughters. As The Nation continues a downward spiral and executives are dropped, Nine will be pinning its hopes on Sea Patrol which launches this week. The Today Show's 25th Anniversary week was defeated except in Melbourne where it regularly beats Sunrise. Could its Martin Place setting be snubbed by Melbourne?

With little contest from Nine on Tuesdays, Ten again managed second place that night. Similarly, its best show for the week was House, aired without competition from The Chaser. Next was The Simpsons, NCIS, Law and Order, Big Brother. Both Torchwood and Pirate Master slipped in their second week.

Spicks and Specks was easily the ABC's best, followed by ABC News, Taggart, New Inventors, More than Enough Rope, Robin Hood, Einstein Factor and Doctor Who.

As usual Mondays were strongest for SBS.

Week 26 Ratings.

Seven drops Naomi

Channel Seven has not renewed its contract with Naomi Robson.

Despite much hype about her talk show pilot (which sounded quite genuine) the network did not proceed and is now of the view that it has no vehicle for her.

Robson's manager confirmed discussions were still underway but that there is nothing firm between the two parties at this stage.

Naomi copped a lot of flak from her time on Today Tonight yet Seven seems to forget she was also the only host to have given the show a national, long-term success. Despite incidents in which she seemed out of her depth, the current affairs show has continued to cop more than its share of dramas this year. So was Naomi the fall-guy?

Robson's appearance on Dancing with the Stars did manage to show the more relaxed side to the host, but it may not have been enough to save her from the axe. Indeed, there is speculation the network merely proceeded with her pilot as a favour with little intent on actually acquiring it.

Given all the talk of pilots for Daryl, Andrew and now even Grant, it does smell decidedly odd.

So where to now for Naomi?

Suddenly, its 20 years since Scott & Charlene

July 1st marks 20 years since the wedding of Scott and Charlene.

The legendary Neighbours wedding is seen by many as the defining moment in the soap's long history, and is still revered by thousands as television's ultimate soapie wedding.

The wedding of the two beloved characters took place at the Holy Trinity Church in Box Hill, metropolitan Melbourne, and won the two hearthrobs the front cover of TIME Magazine in Australia.

On the day the episode aired Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan appeared at Parramatta Shopping Centre where 4000 fans created hysteria.

The wedding 'love theme' Suddenly by Angry Anderson sold 250,000 copies and the episode script, signd by writer Ray Harding, fetched £2,000 at Sotheby's in London.

Alas as with most good Neighbours, Queensland beckoned for the couple and the two drifted off into soapie sunset.

These days, Minogue is making a musical comeback whilst Donovan is to appear tomorrow in a special Andrew Lloyd Webber-devised sequence at the UK's Concert for Diana.
