Drabek finished off his high school career on a perfect 14-0 record. Drabek hit a key homerun in The Woodlands’ Texas state title game. He is a polished pitcher with a variety of pitches. His best pitch might be his 78-82 mph spike curveball, which is just about unhittable. The Philadelphia Phillies picked him up in the first round, overall pick #18.

Kyle Drabek, the son of former major league pitcher Doug Drabek, is doing more than enough to make a name for himself in the game of baseball. Kyle led his Woodlands team to a 28-6 record this season, a #8 ranking in the state of Texas and a #28 ranking in Baseball America. Ranked as the top-pitching prospect in the class of 2006, Kyle put together an incredible season going 11-1-1 in 16 starts. He pitched 77 innings on his way to 155 strikeouts, a 0.82 ERA and only nine earned runs. Kyle was just as impressive at the plate where he led the team in hits (46), on base average (.576) and batting average (.479). Kyle also was second on the team in homeruns (6) and slugging percentage (.771). Kyle joins Ryan Jenkins and Aaron miller as members of the Houston Heat, who won the World Wood Bat Championships last October in Ft. Myers, FL.
