CBC 9PM (9:30PM Newfoundland) - 4th Series Premiere!

UK - The Stolen Earth airs tonight at 7:10PM (BBC One), Sunday at 8PM (BBC Three), and Friday at 8:55PM (BBC Three). Listings magazines have the episode at 50 minutes. Episodes are on iPlayer for UK residents for one week after each broadcast. And please make certain that your friends, family, and mortal enemies have *seen* the episode before you tell them your theories about how Leela and Tegan are the same merged entity - sorry!, stopping now. Don't do something like that - especially regarding characters that are actually in the episodes.

Amazing to think - next week is the 4th Series finale already. Journey's End is 65 minutes long and premieres on BBC One http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcone Saturday 5 July at 6:40PM BST. BBC Three airings Sunday 6 July at 7:30PM and Friday 11 July at 8:30PM BST. After that, the Christmas special and 4 episodes in 2009 before the next full series in 2010.

Sarah Jane Adventures series 1 (minus Invasion Of The Bane) begins a weekly repeat run Monday at 5:15PM on CBBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc , presumably as preparation for Series 2's premiere this Autumn.

Series 4 repeats begin on BBC Three http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree on Monday 14 July at 7PM with Partners In Crime. Looks like it will be a three day a week schedule instead of the 5 days of previous years, due to other BBC Three programming committments on Thursdays and Fridays.

Tom Baker episodes are still airing erraticly on UKTV Drama http://www.uktv.co.uk/drama most days in the 5AM hour. A repeat run of Series 1 and 2 (with some episode missing) begins on UKTV Gold http://www.uktv.co.uk/gold Monday 21 July at 7AM and 4PM.

SciFi Channel UK http://www.scifi.co.uk has a 3 day Bank Holiday weekend marathon of classic Doctor Who (23 to 25 August) coming up, which implies a new home for Classic Doctor Who in the UK as autumn approaches.

Iceland - RUV - The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service http://www.ruv.is aired Series 1 of Doctor Who last year without being discovered by the world community. Thanks to Mark in Iceland for catching them this time as Series 2 is currently running. The next few episodes are Saturdays at 6:05PM. Doctor Who is known as Timaflakk in Iceland.

Australia - ABC1 http://www.abc.net.au/tv premieres Series 4 this Sunday 29 June at 7:30PM. ABC Australia will air cut down versions of the Confidential episodes this year for the first time, starting immediately after Partners In Crime on 6 July.

Italy - Jimmy http://www.jimmy140.it begins Series 3 of Who Sunday 6 July (The Runaway Bride). Episodes air many times during the week, though currently most airings are after Midnight.

New Zealand - Prime http://www.primetv.co.nz has scheduled Series 4 to premiere Sunday 6 June at 7PM with Voyage Of The Damned. Beginning with Partners In Crime on 13 July, episodes air at 7:30PM. It is assumed that the other 13 episodes will follow weekly. Thanks to the New Zealand Doctor Who Fan Club http://nzdwfc.tetrap.com for the information.

USA - no new episode in the next week due to the 4th of July Independence Day holiday (SciFi has their semi-annual Twilight Zone marathon, and the audience for a new episode that night would have been miniscule). Some developments for the public TV stations airing Series 1 and 2 - see Section B for details.

CANADA - there is apparently breaking news about one of the stations due to air Series 4. But I do not have it at publication time. I will try to edit it into the Outpost Gallifrey mirror of the column when I know what the news is.

Torchwood schedule information is included in the Torchwood This Week column http://groups.yahoo.com/group/torchwood .

For press releases on Doctor Who, keep an eye on the BBC Press Office http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice and C21 Media http://www.c21media.net .

2 or 3 Episodes going up per month, it seems. Illusion TV is a service providing science fiction On Demand programming to cable providers (no deals with satellite companies yet). If your digital cable service has Illusion TV, all programming is offered for free with commercials. See the website to determine if your provider may offer this service. Based on the paucity of information on the episodes airing, I guess they want you to get the service before you know what you will be seeing.

Jim Iaccino and Kenn Gold look at the latest SciFi broadcasts in the US, with emphasis on fitting in Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica, and Flash Gordon. Thankfully for them, Who and Galactica are in new episodes on SciFi. Sarah Jane Adventures are also being reviewed. Everything is based on US premiere dates rather than UK. Approximately 90 minutes per episode. Show airs live with a text chat and can be downloaded later.
Current episode - June 22nd - The hosts took a more favorable view to Doctor Who with Silence Of The Library than they did with Unicorn And The Wasp. Also, their reactions on Charlie Jade being moved to 3AM - spoiler - not favorable.

West, Dave AC, Colin, and other Doctor Who fans liked the live Doctor Who: Podshocks so much that they wanted to keep talking afterwards. The resulting show covers Doctor Who, anything else sci-fi related, and can go wildly off in all directions.
Current episodes - 48, discussion of show changing plot twists in genre and non-genre programming through the ages. But how did they forget about Earth: Final Conflict? Also, Studio Episode 1, with Ian and Dave AC discussing future developments in the CIA.
Sunday 2:30PM EDT (7:30PM BST, 11:30AM PDT) - (Time approximate) - Tentative, Ashes To Ashes. The chat finally happens! Unless everybody is still excited over The Stolen Earth and keeps discussing it, which could happen.

Radio Free Skaro http://radiofreeskaro.wordpress.com
The 3 Canadians get together on Sundays for about an hour to discuss the latest in Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Sarah Jane in a fairly amusing manner. Format seems to be extending to commentaries of Classic Who on quiet weeks - stay tuned.
Current episode - #88 - Third (Guy) Left. With one third of the team missing in Las Vegas, the 2 remaining Canadians try to snark about an episode they really like.
Sunday or Monday - #89 - time for The Stolen Earth, no doubt with a joke title involving chickens.

A Podcast Of Impossible Things http://podcastofimpossiblethings.blogspot.com

TV Talk with Shaun O'Mac http://blogtalkradio.com/shaunomacradio
Weeknights 6 to 8PM EDT (3 to 5PM PDT) [Friday 7PM EDT/4PM PDT]
Shaun O'Mac (of the Jericho "nuts" campaign) hosts a daily 2 hour show covering all things TV. Doctor Who is usually discussed in the 2nd hour of the Friday show with Two Doctors co-host Kenn Gold. Listen and chat live through the website with archives appearing right after the show finishes. With the Independence Day holiday on July 4, the next Who news roundup is expected on July 11. It is a US based show, so discussion will probably look back at Forest Of The Dead and forward to Midnight, which premieres on SciFi that night.

Not The Mind Probe http://notthemindprobe.com
Weekly Podcast reviewing the new Doctor Who episodes. Episodes are usually under 20 minutes.
Current episode - 5. A look at the UK broadcast of Silence In The Library, the US broadcast of The Poison Sky, and other little Who bits. No sign of episode 6 yet. Status of podcast - unknown.

Section B - The US Public TV stations:

It's a notable week for Doctor Who on public TV stations.

KCPT 19 Kansas City, MO http://www.kcpt.org has their Doctor Who premiere tonight at 10PM CDT. They start with New Earth.

University of North Carolina http://www.unctv.org premieres Series 2 tonight at 11PM EDT. Episodes and Confidential Cut Down.

Milwaukee Public Broadcasting http://www.wmvs.org premieres Series 2 tonight at 11PM CDT on 10 analog and 10.1 digital. Episodes and Confidential Cut Down.

Oregon Public Broadcasting http://www.opb.org begins a repeat run of Series 1 Monday at 11PM PDT.

The Oregon Channel http://www.oregonchannel.org , a public affairs channel for Oregon co-sponsored by Oregon Public Broadcasting and Southern Oregon Public TV http://www.soptv.org , is adding Doctor Who Series 1 late Mondays at 2AM PDT starting Monday. This looks like a time-shifted repeat of Oregon Public Broadcasting's broadcasts. Southern Oregon also bought Doctor Who, but has not scheduled a third cycle yet. Not sure how this affects Southern Oregon's future rights. For over the air viewers, the Oregon Channel is digital .4 on Oregon Public Broadcasting and digital .3 on Southern Oregon Public TV. For cable subscribers statewide, look on the digital cable section of the listings. This channel is not on Dish Network or DirecTV.

KTEH 54 San Jose, CA http://www.kteh.org has added a late Sunday 1AM repeat for Doctor Who Series 2. Episodes still air Thursdays at 7PM and Saturdays at 10PM.

As of Monday the digital simulcast of KTEH's traditional schedule moves to KTEH subchannel 1 and KQET Monterey, CA subchannel 2. KTEH is also being added as subchannel 2 on KQED-DT in San Francisco, CA. If you have Cable or satellite, this probably will not affect you. But in areas that get KQED-DT over the air but not KTEH-DT, Doctor Who will be available to people with antennas and digital TV reception.

WGVU/WGVK 35,52 Grand Rapids/Kalamazoo, MI has moved their digital simulcast (including Who) to subchannel 1.

WXXI 21 http://www.wxxi.org will begin a 2nd run through Series 2 without finishing the first run. Tonight at 11PM - The Impossible Planet, pt 1 of 2. Next Saturday - back to New Earth, with the last 5 epsiodes of Series 2 not on the schedule.

MPT Maryland http://www.mpt.org airs The Parting Of The Ways tonight at Midnight, one month after their last Who broadcast. Next week the season premiere of the Rochester International Jazz Festival takes the timeslot, which would seem to indicate that Doctor Who is off the schedule. If this is the case, it will be the first time in at least 23 years that Doctor Who has been off Maryland Public TV's schedule. In a day or two Who's status will probably be better known, but the column goes out now, on a cliffhanger for fans in Maryland, DC, Northern VA, West Virginia Panhandle, Southern Pennsylvania, and a fair bit of Delaware.

WJCT 7 Jacksonville, FL http://www.wjct.org will air 2 episodes of Series 1 Sundays at 11PM EDT starting 10 August. This will be the final run of Who on WJCT unless they have purchased Series 2 and kept quiet about it until now.

Series 1 is currently available to public TV stations in a package until February 28, 2009. Series 2 is currently available to public TV stations in a package until March 31, 2010. At this time, stations do not have access to Series 3 and 4.

5 Public TV stations currently have rights to air the classic Doctor Who run (1963-1989). Iowa Public TV is currently airing both Series 2 and Peter Davison episodes. Maryland Public TV is airing Series 1 while resting classic Who. KBTC 28 Tacoma, WA and WCET 48 Cincinnati, OH are airing Tom Baker episodes while resting Series 1. WHRO 15 Norfolk, VA is airing Tom Baker episodes but apparently does not have New Who Series rights.

Four stations have used all their rights to the Series 1 package - WLVT 39 Allentown, PA, WILL 12 Urbana, IL, Iowa Public TV, and Idaho Public TV. If they air Series 1 again, then they re-bought the package. OETA Oklahoma has used half of their 4th and final cycle of Series 1. WMFE 24 Orlando, FL did not renew Doctor Who. If any other stations have non-renewed, they have yet to tell us.

Remember: For the Series 1 and 2 packages, stations have bought the rights to cycle through the episodes 4 times. They are not required to do so. WMFE 24 Orlando, FL is not expected to use their 4th run of Series 1. Other stations may make the same choice for Series 1 as February 28, 2009 comes close. Unless a station admits what they are doing, I'm stuck keeping it here with the most hopeful scenario (the number of times they still *could* air the episodes).

The public TV stations known to have bought The Christmas Invasion and Series 2. Stations where we do not know if Christmas Invasion was bought will have a * by them (list may grow):
