A Buffalo man with a history of burglary and drug-related convictions had 15 years added to his existing prison term Monday, all the while insisting he was wrongly convicted of the most recent crime he is accused of: an armed robbery in Johnson Park in July 2004.
The state Health Department has given Erie County $35,800 to continue monitoring the water quality at the county’s beaches and nearby streams to identify the sources of bacterial contamination.
Kevin Drake apologized Monday as Erie County Judge Sheila A. DiTullio ordered him to serve an 18-year prison term for fatally shooting a man outside a Breckenridge Street liquor store last New Year’s Eve.

A 15-year-old girl who ran away from home was raped by two men over a one-week period while she was staying at a house on Titus Avenue, police said. She was treated in Women and Children’s Hospital.

The state signed on Monday as an enthusiastic supporter of the plan to combine Kaleida Health and Erie County Medical Center under one administration, with Dr. Richard F. Daines, state health commissioner, the top cheerleader.
