Woman Victim Of Early-Morning North End Assault

Police Looking To See If Assault Connected To Earlier Incidents

BOSTON (WBZ) ― A woman said she was assaulted in the North End early Friday morning, and now police are searching for the suspect.

The 23-year-old victim told police she was walking down Foster Street around 3:30 a.m. when she was attacked from behind.

WBZ's Christina Hager spoke with the victim who lives on the street where the attack happened. She said the suspect grabbed her and shoved her to the ground.

She said her instinct was to fight off her attacker. The woman was able to push away the suspect, who then fled the scene.

WBZ spoke with other residents in the area who say they're changing their habits. Stacy Hough, who also lives on Foster Street, says "Before I used to walk home because I figured it's a busy neighborhood, people are out, I'll be safe, but I guess not."

The suspect in this case is described as a white man in his 20s with light colored short hair. Boston police are looking into whether there is a connection between this incident and past reports of assault in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call Boston police at 800.494.TIPS, or text "TIP" to "CRIME" (27463).
