About Pop!Tech

Pop!Tech is a one-of-a-kind conference, a community of remarkable people, and an ongoing conversation about science, technology and the future of ideas.

The Conference

Every October, in the beautiful seaside village of Camden, Maine, at the height of the fall foliage season, there is a one-of-a-kind conference called Pop!Tech.

Held in a beautifully restored, 19th-century opera house, this three-day summit explores the cutting-edge ideas, emerging technologies and new forces of change that are shaping our collective future. The conference brings together 500 visionary thinkers in the sciences, technology, business, design, the arts, education, government and culture.

But the conference isnt a talking heads festival; nestled between mind-expanding presentations on a huge variety of subjects are musical performances, short films, demonstrations, and other one-of-a-kind surprises. Over the course of three days, every part of your mind is engaged.

The breathtaking content, beautiful setting, intimate scale, and informal tone make Pop!Tech an experience like no other. At the end, you’ll leave with dozens of new ideas, a better sense of where the world is headed, a new network of relationships and a lasting inspiration to create a better world.

The Community

The anthropologist Margaret Mead once said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” For the past decade, Pop!Tech has been building and inspiring just such a community of committed change-agents. It’s a network that stretches from Maine to Silicon Valley; from Tanzania to Tilonia, India.

Pop!Tech was founded and is still supported by a team of volunteers, and it is their spirit that suffuses it with a significant part of its magic. The Pop!Tech network also works because it is so eclectic – it includes visionaries from many disciplines, as well as corporate leaders and entrepreneurs, global participants, educators and even students. It’s not merely a community of elites – but an open and grounded dialog between people on both the giving and receiving end of change.

The Conversation

Conversation and dialogue are key parts of the Pop!Tech experience. Increasingly, we’ve been working to take the best of the insights and magical moments that happen in Camden, and share them with new communities throughout the world. We’re doing this through books, television, live “satellite” events, and more. Thus, even as the Pop!Tech conference draws to a close, the Pop!Tech conversation continues to inspire people around the world.

Come to Pop!Tech and experience all of this for yourself.

Pop!Tech champions the work of exceptional thinkers, entrepreneurs, activists, and performers but we are always looking for new and inspiring speakers to bring to the Pop!Tech stage. We invite you to let us know about any amazing individuals who you feel would be a strong candidate for presenting at future Pop!Techs. Please send an email with relevant links and background information to Michele Bowman.
