'Run Fatboy Run'
In yesterday's article, 'Economic woes take their toll on UK box office', we wrote that 'Run Fatboy Run' had box-office takings of £3m, in fact the takings were over £11m.

Balli Group plc - an apology
Tuesday, 17 June 2008
Contrary to the impression given by the headline to the Pandora column on 13 June, the Temporary Denial Order imposed by the US Department of Commerce on a number of companies including Balli Group plc does not relate to arms but to passenger airplanes. We accept that the matter has nothing whatsoever to do with arms and we apologise to them and to Lord Lamont for this error. Balli Group plc's position is that the decision to issue the Order was based on inaccurate information, it has instructed attorneys to appeal against the Order and is fully cooperating with the Department's enquiries. We will pay substantial damages which Balli Group plc are donating to the British Museum.
Feral Beast
Sunday, 15 June 2008
An item in the Feral Beast column on 18 May ("Gilligan's success made sweeter by BBC blunder") stated that the information published by the Evening Standard in December 2007 about the London Mayor's Equalities Advisor, Lee Jasper, had been leaked a year previously to Tim Donovan, the political editor of BBC London, who had rejected the story as being of no news value. This was incorrect: the leaked emails were seen by Mr Donovan in September 2007 and BBC London's investigation into the allegations was ongoing when the Evening Standard published its first story on 5 December. We are happy to clarify the position.
London 2012
Sunday, 15 June 2008
On 1 June the Independent on Sunday published an article (in the Business section) mistakenly suggesting that Lord Coe, Chairman of London 2012, was in talks with the National Grid over a deal to make the London 2012 Games carbon neutral. We accept that such talks never took place and a document allegedly received by Lord Coe as part of 'talks' was never delivered. We are happy to clarify that London 2012 has no plans to make the Games carbon neutral and works with EDF Energy on sustainable energy supplies.
David Gest
Tuesday, 10 June 2008
In The Independent Extra on 18 March 2008, we incorrectly suggested that David Gest had alleged that Liza Minnelli gave him herpes. Mr Gest has told us, which we accept, that he did not make any such allegation and that he has never had the disease. We apologise to Mr Gest for any embarrassment or distress caused by this mistake.
Ian Lucas
Thursday, 22 May 2008
In yesterday's article 'MPs throw out bids to reduce abortion limit ' we wrongly attributed a quote from Ian Lucas, the campaign co-ordinator of the all-party Parliamentary Pro-Life Group, to Ian Lucas, the Labour MP for Wrexham, who supports the current time limits on abortion and voted against the proposed reduction of them. We apologise for this mistake.
'Hello!' Magazine
Saturday, 10 May 2008
In yesterday's Extra the picture credits were omitted in error from our article about Hello! Magazine. All the pictures were courtesy of Hello! magazine and Getty Images. The photographs are also appearing in an exhibition at Getty Images Gallery until 16 May.
Aris Comninos
Friday, 25 April 2008
In yesterday's paper, due to the wrong information being supplied to us, the stunt man who was seriously injured while shooting the new Bond film was named as Grecous Angelus. In fact the injured man is Aris Comninos. We apologise for this error.
Eric Sykes
Saturday, 19 April 2008
Due to an error in transcription, comments made by the photographer John Swannell (About Face, Magazine, 15 March) about the drinking habits of another portrait subject, George Melly, were mistakenly identified as relating to the actor and comedian Eric Sykes. We apologise wholeheartedly to Mr Sykes for this mix-up.
Smarties
Thursday, 17 April 2008
In Picture Post yesterday we wrote that blue Smarties contained e-numbers. Nestlé have asked us to point out that the recently re-introduced blue Smartie does not contain any E-numbers, nor does any other-coloured Smartie.
Barbara Roche
Saturday, 12 April 2008
In Mathew Norman’s column (28 March) he wrote that Barbara Roche had described asylum-seekers begging with their children as "vile". In fact she was describing the practice of using children as an aid to begging. We apologise for misrepresenting Mrs. Roche's position.
