The Mets have a chance to erase three months of mediocre baseball with a hot weekend at Philadelphia.
On June 27, the Mets began a 12-game stretch David Wright said could define their season: four games each against the Yankees, St. Louis and Philadelphia.
They began it a game below .500 and four games out of first place.
"I said this was a very important stretch for us," Wright said. "If we take care of business, we can be where we want to be. ... We have to go in there and do what has to be done."
Manager Jerry Manuel has a sense the Mets are starting to improve. He senses a more aggressive attitude, beginning with the offense.
