|Dina Lohan was born Donata Sullivan on 15 September, 1962 in New York. She is best known as “momager,” or mother and manager, of daughters Lindsay and Aliana (Ali) as well as sons Michael Jr. and Dakota (Cody). Currently, she stars on the reality television show, Living Lohan, as she tries to help further Ali’s career in show biz while being single mother to 14 year old Ali and 12 year old Cody.
Dina has said many times that she wanted to do a reality show to let people know how she and her family really live as she feels the media mostly portray her and her family unfairly. She stresses she is no party mom, but is a normal, suburban single parent that just wants to help her children and do the best she can. Living Lohan debuted May 26, 2008 on E! Cameras follow Dina, Ali and Cody as well as assistant, Alexis, who keeps a close eye on the tabloids.
Curiously, there isn’t much information available about Dina’s background before she was a wife and mother. It had been reported that she was a Rockette at the Radio City Music Hall, but unresolved controversy erupted when a spokesperson for the Hall said that an intensive search could not find any evidence of Dina’s being a Rockette at any time.
What doesn’t seem disputed is that Dina worked as a Wall Street analyst before becoming daughter Lindsay Lohan’s manager. Dina married Michael in 1985 and they had 4 children together: Linsday born July 2, 1986, Michael Jr. born December 16, 1987, Aliana (Ali) born December 22, 1993 and Dakota (Cody) born June 16, 1996. Michael and Dina and their family lived in the Cold Spring Harbor and Merrick areas of Long Island, New York. Michael inherited a pasta business from his father and later sold it. Michael was a broker on Wall Street and in the late 1980s he served four years in prison for securities fraud.
Dina involved the children in modeling and acting at a young age. Lindsay was a Ford model at age three and did print ads for Calvin Klein Kids – often with her siblings, Michael and Ali. Ali was also a Ford model as a toddler. Lindsay did over 100 print ads for Toys R Us. At age 10 Lindsay played Alexandra Fowler on the soap, Another World, and had more lines than any other child actor. Lindsay’s first movie was as identical twins in the Disney 1998 version of The Parent Trap and Dina had a role as “woman in the airport.” She was also “woman dancing at the wedding” in the version of Freaky Friday that Lindsay starred in. Ali and Cody had small roles in the wedding party in Freaky Friday.
Dina Lohan was on the cover of the Long Island variety publication, The Boulevard magazine, in October, 2006. Later covers of the magazine have included Joan Jett, Susan Lucci, David Hyde Pierce and Anthony Michael Hall. Dina is known for calling herself “White Oprah” and many people seem to appreciate her understanding nature. When approached with the speculation that Lindsay and friend, Samantha Ronson, are in a lesbian relationship, Dina replied “If she’s happy, I’m happy. That’s all I’ll say. Samantha’s great. I’ve known her and her family for years.” Dina and Michael separated in December, 2005 and Dina filed for the divorce that was finalized in August, 2007. Dina was named Mother of the Year in Long Island in May, 2008.
