"Beakman" to speak at Orlando Science Center on Saturday

How about meeting Beakman of "Beakman's World"?

You have that opportunity at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Orlando Science Center. Paul Zaloom -- who plays Beakman on the science series -- will entertain children.

"I ask them the questions," Zaloom told me. "The conceit of the TV show is they ask me questions. When I perform, I turn the tables on them. I try to find the audience-participation way of talking. I invent creative ways to get complicated scientific principles across."

The topics can range from air pressure to brain tricks to the center of gravity.

    His main goal?

MyNetworkTV schedule includes Arsenio Hall, "Funniest Moments"

Arsenio Hall will host "Funniest Moments," a series pulling together "life's most outrageous moments caught on tape," according to MyNetworkTV.

MyNetworkTV could use more funniest moments for itself as it makes a run at the top five English-language broadcast networks. The network is adding three new series and picking up "WWE Friday Night Smackdown."

    Here's MyNetworkTV's fall schedule:

Mondays: "Celebrity Expose" at 8, "Magic's Biggest Secrets Revealed" at 9.

Tuesdays: "Street Patrol" at 8, "Jail" at 9.

Wednesdays: "Under One Roof" at 8, "The Tony Rock Project" at 8:30, "Funniest Moments" at 9.  And "Funniest Moments" is a working title. If the moments aren't that funny, will they change the title?

Oprah Winfrey talks to Oscar nominees; Tyra Banks welcomes John Edwards

If you haven't heard enough about the Oscar nominations, you might want to watch Oprah Winfrey's show on Thursday.

"Oprah talks to your favorite nominees," the show teases. The way I read her Web site, you'll be seeing a contingent from "Juno," easily the biggest hit of the five best-picture nominees.

If you're more into politics, Tyra Banks could be for you. She welcomes former Sen. John Edwards to her Friday show. The presidential candidate says he wasn't upset that his 2004 running man, Sen. John Kerry, endorsed Sen. Barack Obama. Banks interviewed Edwards on Tuesday.

"First of all, John Kerry is a very good man, and he would have made a very good president," Edwards says. "And if I can be political for just a minute, a lot better than the one we got right now. And I think he's close to Senator Obama."

Tyra Banks throws bouquets Hillary Clinton's way

Tyrabanksst_2Host Tyra Banks sounds mighty impressed by her Friday guest: Sen. Hillary Clinton. The presidential candidate visits "The Tyra Banks Show" at 2 p.m. Friday on WRBW-Channel 65.

Banks tells Clinton: "We are having a fantastic interview. I actually feel like I know you now. You feel like the real thing. Doesn't she feel like real?"

Well, OK. Their topics include reality shows, Hillary's talents and a name for Bill Clinton if Hillary becomes president.

What would Bill be called instead of First Lady? First Mate is one name, the senator says. "His Scottish friends say 'Firsty Laddy,' but we need ideas," she adds. "I'll just keep calling him Bill."

Orlando-raised Mandy Moore likes to swear, Tyra Banks says

MandymoorestThat Mandy Moore. She has a mouth on her.

    So says Tyra Banks.

The "America's Next Top Model" host interviews Orlando-raised Moore (pictured) for the Friday edition of "The Tyra Banks Show." It won't air locally because of football. But you can catch it on another run at 3 a.m. Dec. 1 (yes, early Saturday morning for recording purposes) on WOFL-Channel 35.

Banks tells "Extra" she was surprised by Moore.

"She's like, 'I curse like a sailor,'" Banks says of Moore. "We were like 'bleep bleep bleep bleep.' And I was like, 'Wow, Mandy.' ... Mandy Moore curses better than men."

    Who knew?
