KUALA LUMPUR, Wed:

POLICE obtained today a warrant of arrest against Raja Petra Kamaruddin, blogger and owner of Malaysia Today, for criminal defamation in connection with his statutory declaration that the wife of the Deputy Prime Minister, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, was present when Mongolian national Altantunya Shaariibuu’s body was blown up.

He is expected to be charged tomorrow for criminal defamation linked to allegations in his statutory declaration on June 18 that implicated Rosmah.

Police confirmed that a warrant had been issued but at press time had not been able to contact his lawyers.

In his declaration filed at the High Court, Raja Petra, 58, had named three individuals, including Rosmah, who he claimed were present when Altantuya was murdered in 2006.

Bomb expert Lt-Col Aziz Buyong and his wife and aide to Rosmah, Norhayati Hassan, were also alleged to have been at the place where Altantuya's body had been blown up.
On May 6, Raja Petra was charged under section 4(1)(C) of the Sedition Act 1948 for posting his article “Let's send the Altantuya murderers to hell” on www.malaysia-today.net on April 25.

The article contained allegations involving people whose names were given as well as events that allegedly took place just before Altantuya's murder.

He was given an option to post bail but refused and chose to stay in the Sungai Buloh Prison.

Datuk Seri Najib Razak has dismissed Raja Petra's statutory declaration as a "total lie and fabrication."
