NARUTO: HONORABLE MENTIONSAnd while millions of viewers have tuned in to Cartoon Network to see Naruto try to become a better ninja, the spunky little kid wouldn’t get far without the support of his Leaf Village teammates. While these colleagues aren’t main characters, and they don’t get as much credit as they deserve, they’re all heroes in their own right. They might not have a show named after them, but they struggle to grow stronger and find their place in the world just like Naruto does. It’s a crime that they haven’t received more attention, so we’ve compiled a list to show you just what these kids have to offer.

ROCK LEE
Strength: There’s no one quite as determined as this guy, except maybe Naruto. Rock Lee (right) will stay up all night training. He gains strength from his determination to be like his equally goofy hero Might Guy, who believed in him when no one else did (and also gave him that spiffy green bodysuit).
Weakness: He may have better physical skills than anyone else, but he’s completely unable to perform ninjutsu or genjutsu. Calling himself a “handsome devil” in front of his crush, Sakura, doesn’t get him any points either.
Greatest Feat: Rock Lee escapes from the hospital, still injured, to help Naruto face off against Kimimaro, Orochimaru’s number one minion. Too bad he grabbed a bottle of booze instead of his medicine! Luckily, Rock Lee is a master of the Drunken Boxing technique, and though he’s outclassed and still injured, he holds off Kimimaro long enough for Naruto to break away and pursue Sasuke.

CHOJI AKIMICHI
Strength: Choiji stores chakra in the form of body fat, and with the expansion jutsu that runs in his family, he can blimp up like a puffer fish-turned-ninja. When he pulls his limbs inside his clothes in this state, watch him gain speed for a deadly rolling attack!
Weakness: Obviously, people make fun of his weight a lot, even though it’s his most powerful asset. Choji, like most people, is sensitive when his features are put down. Call him “fatso” and he may well want a fight to the death.
Greatest Feat: Choji hasn’t had much success in battles or exams, but that’s really because he hasn’t had the chance. In pursuit of Sasuke (along with Kiba, Naruto and Neji), Choji finally has the chance to engage in a life-or-death battle. He rises to the occasion, risking almost certain death—in exchange for no recognition at all—by using one of his clan’s ultimate techniques to give his teammmates time to find Sasuke.

KIBA INUZUKA
Strength: Kiba’s family’s ninja strength is, believe it or not, breeding dogs. Inuzuka dogs perform as ninja alongside their masters, so Kiba has the unique strength of having extra pooch power at his side in the form of Akamaru. His dog-like sense of smell is another thing to be reckoned with.
Weakness: Kiba’s easily angered and has an overbearing ego when it comes to his talents. He also has a scathing tongue, and a tendency to call others names and taunt them even when they’re down.
Greatest Feat: When he sets off to help find the “kidnapped” Sasuke, Kiba faces Sakon, an opponent whose inner twin, Ukon, can merge with other people and control their bodies. When Ukon infiltrates Kiba’s body, Kiba stabs himself to hurt Ukon. It takes a lot of guts to fight a powerful opponent, but it takes even more to fight yourself.
