Senior running back Marlon Lucky was the lone Husker named as a first-team all-conference choice in the preseason media poll. Missouri had eight first-team picks, and Oklahoma six.

As a junior, Lucky topped 100 all-purpose yards in each of the final five games to finish with 1,743 for the season.

Missouri’s Chase Daniel was named preseason Big 12 offensive player of the year, Oklahoma’s Auston English was selected as the league’s defensive player of the year, and Colorado’s Darrell Scott was chosen newcomer of the year.
