Colleges Crossing 1920

Chuwar is located in the outer western suburbs of Brisbane. The vegetation in the area is a reflection of the underlying geology. South of Mt Crosby Road this soil is influenced by the Ipswich Coal Measures which produces conglomerates, sandstones and shales. The soil does not hold water and the resulting dryness encourages the growth of eucalypt forest and woodland. North of Mt Crosby Road the area is steeper, the soils thinner and the vegetation similar to the forest type south of Mt Crosby Road. The Brisbane River, Colleges Crossing and large areas of rural residential and rural land are dominant features of the area.
