Dandenong Bypass

The Premier John Brumby officially opened the $65 million Dandenong Bypass to traffic 12 months early on 9 December, 2007.

The Dandenong Bypass is one of two toll-free bypass roads offered as an additional incentive by ConnectEast during the bidding process, along with four railway station upgrades.

The new road will improve the daily commute for thousands of workers employed in the south-eastern suburbs.

Once EastLink opens the Dandenong Bypass is expected to carry at least 25,000 vehicles a day, and provide an alternative route to Cheltenham Road and Greens Road.

The 4.75km Dandenong Bypass links Perry Road in Keysborough to South Gippsland Highway in Dandenong South.

The Bypass also includes a new three metre-wide concrete walking and cycling path along the full length of the Bypass which will eventually link into the 40 kilometre EastLink walking and cycling trail.
