Episode Recap: "The Test" | ER | 11/2/2007
This was definitely one of the tougher episodes in recent memory, especially being the mother of a son. Watching Gates’ brave young patient succumb to his terminal respiratory disease was almost too much to bear. The scene with the chaplain and the mother watching his struggle for each breath was heartbreaking, made even more so by the courage and conviction the boy demonstrated by making the decision not to go on a ventilator. On a much more lighthearted note, I felt like there was a lot of chemistry between Sam and Gates as they butted heads over the ethical handling of the case. I’ve said it before, but I really feel like a Sam-Tony pairing would be an interesting place to go, especially when you think about the kids and the connection they would have there. Bionic Sis Gets New Face/Ears, More Casting News | Today's News: Our Take | 7/17/2007
Lucy Hale has joined NBC's Bionic Woman as Jaime Sommers' younger sister, replacing Mae Whitman (who filled the role in the pilot). Hale is best known (by me) as Robin's kid sis on How I Met Your Mother. Definitely more of a "family resemblance" now. Also, as rumored and since confirmed in the Ausiello Report, the sibling is no longer deaf, and has also gained mad hacking skills.Also per the Reporter, Julie White has been upped to series-regular status on ABC's Cavemen, where she plays nice Cro-Mag Joel's (Bill English) prospective (and WASPy) mother-in-law, while Drive's Kristin Lehman has been cast as a police detective's wife in Backyards & Bullets, an NBC pilot (formerly known as The Watch) about a neighborhood-watch program gone extreme. read more

Bionic Woman is undergoing a little surgery.Mae Whitman (Thief) is being replaced in the role of Becca, the title character's deaf sister. An NBC spokesperson confirmed the move, adding, "The decision was purely creatively driven. It is very common to change story lines, characters, actors after the initial pilot is shot."The search for a replacement is under way — and the new actress might not be required to learn sign language. How many of you were a complete mess while watching this episode, like I was? Out. Of. Control. Hey — it's not a shocker when Grey's Anatomy makes you cry — I'm used to getting teary-eyed at least once per episode. But multiple times throughout the hour — that only happens once or twice per season for me. Wow. Can someone please give T.R. Knight an Emmy, Golden Globe or SAG nomination? To the best of my knowledge, he has never been individually nominated for any TV acting award, and after tonight, he's due. He had so many award-worthy scenes, starting with the moment when George figured out that Webber and Bailey had abided by Mr. O'Malley's wishes and given him the surgery, even after seeing that his cancer had spread. "He didn't know any better! You knew better!" Then, I lost it again when George spoke to his on-life-support father and admitted to lying to him as a child, apologized and asked him to "fight a little harder — that'd be good" and then kissed him.... read more
