Independent inter-denominational day and boarding, coeducational Preschool to Year 3, girls Years 4 to 12
Nestled in 11.5 hectares on the Mornington Peninsula (one hour south of the Melbourne CBD), Toorak College provides students with a breadth of opportunity and a student-centred curriculum to experience and excel. A broad and challenging academic and extracurricular program aims directly at individual achievement.
The school highlights five centres of excellence: Foundation Years (Preschool to Year 2), Girls Sport, Senior Years, TCOnline and Performance Arts. Toorak College is not a selective school and does not enrol students only on their academic merit, yet VCE results are repeatedly in the top state rankings.
Facilities: Multimedia senior student centre with lecture theatre, break-out rooms, common room and internet caf , study area, performance/dance studio, science/technology centre, arts/crafts centre, computer lab, photography room, gymnasium, weight room, athletic track, squash, tennis, basketball courts and aquatic centre. Single and twin-share accommodation for boarders.
Curriculum: Adoption of Reggio Emilia philosophy in Foundation Years. Attention to individual talents, creativity and basic skills with increasing curriculum options as the girls progress through the school. Acceleration and remedial programs offered. VCE subjects cover traditional, business, arts and technology subjects with links to VET subjects.
Co-curricular activities: Co-curricular activities include Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, equestrian, surfing, debating, outdoor education, international exchange program, member of Girls Sport Victoria, rowing and snow sports. The school has an exhilarating sense of spirit and encourages all girls to be involved in their school, local and international communities.
