ASC is leading the way in building and maintaining the future of Australia’s front-line naval defence capabilities.

ASC (formerly Australian Submarine Corporation) was chosen in 1987 as the prime contractor for the design and manufacture of the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) fleet of six Collins Class submarines.

In 2003 it began a 25-year, multi-billion dollar Through-Life Support contract for the continuous design enhancements, maintenance and support of the Collins Class submarines.

ASC was selected as the shipbuilder for the RAN’s Hobart Class Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) Program in 2005.  This program is expected to double ASC’s current workforce of around 1,000 and provide enormous opportunities for Australia’s shipbuilding industry.

ASC is now Australia’s largest specialised defence shipbuilding organisation, with naval design and engineering resources unparalleled in the nation’s defence industry.

Its South Australian operations at Osborne will form a major part of Techport Australia, the South Australian Government’s purpose-built naval and defence industry hub.
