Hulk Hogan & “Macho Man” Randy Savage w/ Elizabeth vs. “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase & Andre the Giant w/ Virgil and Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
WrestleMania IV was an amazing event that saw the crowning of a new WWE Champion in Randy Savage, but a couple scores still hadn’t been settled. Savage defeated Ted DiBiase in the finals of the WWE Championship tournament at WrestleMania IV, and the Million Dollar Man was out for revenge. Meanwhile, Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant still hadn’t fully resolved their rivalry that dated all the way back to WrestleMania III. The two faced each other in the WWE Championship tournament as well, but they were both disqualified for using a steel chair. It was only natural that Hogan & Savage team up to take on their enemies.
This classic main event of the first ever SummerSlam was dubbed The Mega Powers vs. The Mega Bucks. A match of this magnitude naturally needed a special guest referee and that man was none other than future WWE Hall of Famer and Governor of Minnesota, Jesse “The Body” Ventura.
The Mega Powers started out with the early advantage, utilizing quick tags and keeping DiBiase on their side of the ring. Once Andre the Giant came in, however, Hogan and Savage’s fortunes began to change as the Eighth Wonder of the World was too overpowering. The Mega Powers made a comeback, but once again found themselves down, and almost out. Then, when a loss seemed imminent, Elizabeth got on the ring apron and took off her skirt, revealing bikini bottoms in one of the most famous moments in SummerSlam history. DiBiase and Andre the Giant were both so taken aback by her beauty that it gave Hogan and Savage time to recover. Hogan slammed DiBiase, Savage nailed his top-rope elbow drop and Hogan hit the leg drop. Ventura had no choice but to count the 1-2-3 no matter how badly he didn’t want to.
