These courses are offered by the TAFE Faculty of Workforce Development within the School of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences in the Faculty of Health, Engineering and Science.

Courses are fully accredited and designed in conjunction with members of the paramedic profession and industry organisations such as the Ambulance Service Victoria, Ambulance Employees of Australia and the Institute of Ambulance Officers (Australia).

Certificate III in Non-Emergency Client Transport (HLT30207)

Graduates of the Certificate III in Non-Emergency Client Transport will be qualified to be a Patient Transport officer, ambulance transport officer or patient transport attendant. These workers provide non-emergency transport and care of clients. Transport services of this kind are usually pre-arranged/booked and time of response is not given a high priority in comparison to emergency transport. Clients are those requiring transport and/or client care for non-acute or chronic illness or disability.

Students will be required to attend shifts with Non-emergency Patient Transport companies as part of the course. Agencies may require a police clearance prior to undertaking a placement in the sector.

Diploma of Paramedical Science (Ambulance) (HLT50407)

Graduates will be qualified as Ambulance Transport Attendant or Ambulance Paramedic in the non-emergency private ambulance industry. Workers are employed by State Ambulance authorities and non-emergency transport companies to provide non-emergency client care and transport services.

Students will be required to attend shifts with Non-Emergency Patient Transport companies as part of the course. Agencies may require a police clearance prior to undertaking a placement in the sector.

Successful completion of the Diploma of Paramedical Science (Ambulance) may lead to a pathway to degree studies in the Bachelor of Paramedic Science.
