Spa

1000 KM de Spa

We can, without hesitation, say that the Belgian circuit is one of the preferred of drivers both past and present.

For many a year, this circuit ran through the undulating forests between the communities of Spa, Francorchamps and Stavelot. But when looking back at the history of the circuit it wasn't just the pastoral aspect that made it such a success.

It was more likely the 1954 race, the first, in which sports cars competed in the Spa 1000 KMS before the race was shortened to 500KM in 1963 but then reinstate to 1000KMS on May 22, 1966. The race's greatest moment was perhaps in 1975 with the win for the team of Bell and Pescarolo in an Alfa Romeo 33TT12.

From 1982 to 1988 the 1000KMS was the era of the Group C cars. Re-introduced 15 years later, the Spa 1000KMS has become one of the musts in the Le Mans Series “1000KM†races.
