Tampa Bay free agent tight end Anthony Becht's three-year tenure with the Buccaneers ended Thursday when he signed with the St. Louis Rams. Becht caught 39 passes and three touchdowns with the Bucs, who signed blocking TE John Gilmore last week.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have spent the past week attempting to sign other teams' free agent players. Now some of their own free agents are starting to find new homes.

Bucs free agent tight end Anthony Becht's three-year tenure in Tampa Bay ended Thursday when he signed with the St. Louis Rams. Terms of the deal were not immediately known.

Becht, 30, joined the Bucs as a free agent in 2004 after spending the first five years of his career with the New York Jets, who used a first-round pick to select him out of West Virginia in the 2000 NFL Draft.

The 6-foot-5, 260-pound Becht caught 39 passes and scored three touchdowns while serving primarily as a blocking tight end in Bucs head coach Jon Gruden's offense.

Becht has caught 172 passes for 1,411 yards (8.2 avg.) and 20 touchdowns in 126 career games.

It appeared unlikely that Becht would return to Tampa Bay after the Buccaneers signed Chicago Bears free agent TE John Gilmore last week. Gilmore is considered a strong blocking tight end.

The Bucs have several other free agents, including cornerbacks Sammy Davis and Brian Kelly, centers Matt Lehr and John Wade, wide receiver Mark Jones, running back Michael Pittman, tight end Jerramy Stevens, linebacker Jeremiah Trotter, still on the market.

However, Kelly could sign with a new team soon as he has reportedly received interest from Detroit and the New York Giants.

In addition, Bucs restricted free agent safety Kalvin Pearson was recently signed to an offer sheet by the Lions. Tampa Bay has until 4:00 p.m. ET on Mar. 12 to match the offer.

Okay, he signed. I am glad for him, but I believe we have just as good tight end that replaced him and is at a cheaper cost.
