Strange names for Animal homes

Some animals have special names given to their babies, or when they are together in groups. Others have special names for where they live. Here are just a few:

 

  • A baby kangaroo lives in a pouch
  • A badger lives in a sett or earth
  • A bat lives in a roost
  • A beaver lives in a lodge
  • A bee lives in a hive
  • Wild bees and wasps live in a byke
  • A chicken lives in a coop
  • A dove lives in a cote
  • An eagle lives in an aerie
  • A fox lives in a den or earth
  • An otter lives in a holt
  • A hare lives in a form
  • A mole lives in a hole
  • A rabbit lives in a warren
  • A spider lives in a web
  • A squirrel lives in a drey
  • A pig lives in a sty
  • A termite lives in a termite mound
  • An ant lives in an ant hill
