Hill Country Chess is dedicated to bringing quality chess awareness, instruction,
and tournaments to the Hill country.
Hill Country Chess is primarily designed to help children and adolescents develop cognitive
skills for later in life.

The Hill Country Fall Open has found a venue. We will be playing the tournament at the spacious First Baptist Church. The church has excellent accomodations for the parents, and a very nice, seperate playing hall for the contestants.

Details can be found on the tournament link. Please register early as that helps us purchase more trophies and medals.

We will again offer a "first-timer" discount. First time players, who join the USCF through Hill Country Chess, will be able to play for just $10.00.

Please send me an e-mail if you are not on our e-mail list, that way we can keep you informed on Hill Country Chess events.

If you, and or your child, is new to tournament chess I have included a link that will help answer some questions pertaining to participation, etc.  http://home.comcast.net/~danheisman/Scholastics/Dialog.htm. I am not Dan Heisman but I think his novice nook articles at www.chesscafe.com are excellent for beginning players.
