website accessibility

GO Transit has incorporated a number of practices to make our website accessible to a broader audience, including people with disabilities, and people using older browsing technology or with slow internet connections. These practices correspond with guidelines established by the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Accessibility Initiative, and the Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

The following accessibility functions have been implemented on our website:

  • To assist in the use of screen readers for users who have visual disabilities, alternate text has been included with graphic images where possible.

  • The contrast between text and background colours has been maximized where possible, and when colour coding is used, an alternate indicator such as italic type is provided.

  • A site map is provided, showing how the site is organized and containing links to all of the main pages.

  • Cascading style sheets have been implemented to simplify HTML code for screen readers.
