Dear Members of the Georgia Tech Community:
I hope that you are enjoying the start of summer. Congratulations on a wonderful commencement, and on the many accomplishments of faculty, staff, and students during the 2007-2008 academic year. Georgia Tech continues to be a great source of pride for the entire state of Georgia, and I am extraordinarily pleased with the progress I see across all divisions of the campus.
The search for Georgia Tech's eleventh president has begun. In consultation with the Board Chair and Search Committee chair, we shall solicit proposals from the premier higher education executive recruiters in the nation, to aid us in the search process. Nearly all research universities employ executive recruiters, in order to build the most talented and diverse pool of presidential candidates possible.
Recruiters shall be interviewed this summer, and both the Search Committee membership and the recruiter will be announced to the campus well before the start of fall classes.
If you would like more details on the process we use for presidential searches in our system, please consult the Board of Regents policy on presidential searches.
I realize that many of you are interested in the presidential search process, and I assure you that we are moving as quickly as possible, within Board policy, scheduling constraints, and state guidelines on service procurement. Over the course of the next few months, please consult this website on a regular basis, as we will use it to communicate all announcements and updates on the search process.
Many thanks for your engagement and your patience. With your help we shall find a superb president for Georgia Tech, one who will build on your accomplishments, and make Tech an even more powerful voice in research, instruction, and innovation.
Erroll B. Davis
