MISCELLANEOUS NOTES:
Croupier is not eligible for Academy Award consideration because it previously aired on television. The Decalogue is a collection of short films by Krzysztof Kieslowski that originally aired on Polish television in 1988-89 and has previously screened at film festivals in the United States. The AFI 2000 is a new list of the top 10 American films of the year presented by the American Film Institute, but films on the list are not given rankings within the group of 10. The Village Voice's Take Two critics poll ( Go there) surveys 54 film critics from various publications. The top-10 list by the Wall Street Journal's Joe Morgenstern did not rank the movies beyond the #1 position.
