Welcome to the World of Ashley Wood!

IDW Publishing and award-winning artist and illustrator have grown up together. Our first project as a publisher was with Ash, and since then, he's gone on to create greatness for us in the form of numerous projects, many of which are displayed below. If you like what you see, head over to our store, where you can get the latest Ash book--we promise you won't be disappointed.

Tank Girl
Coming in May of 2007, Ash will work with Tank Girl co-creator/writer Alan Martin on an all-new, four-part Tank Girl adventure, Tank Girl: The Gifting. While Ash will be handling the character for the first time, Scotland-based Alan Martin is returning to the character he originated with artist Jamie Hewlett (also of Gorillaz fame). The Gifting will feature a series of non-linear stories (as you'd expect in a proper Tank Girl adventure) with such titles as "The Dogsh*t in Barney's Handbag," "Kill Jumbo," and "The Innocent Die First."

D'Airain Aventure
Ashley Wood has been re-thinking, renouncing and revitalizing typical approaches to comic books since he entered the industry over a decade ago. Whether it be through his work on creator-owned titles like Popbot and Lore, his revival of '70s horror magazines in Doomed, his groundbreaking work on Metal Gear Solid, or his series of art books like Sencilla Fanta and Swallow, Wood has continued to push the boundaries of what comics fans should expect from the medium. But never before has he used words and pictures in such a cohesive, ground-breaking way as his January-bound new title, D'Airain Aventure.

Zombies vs. Robots
It's tech prowess meets undead mayhem! In this tale of carnage from the Eisner Award-nominated team of artist Ashley Wood (Popbot) and writer Chris Ryall (The Great and Secret Show). A post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies has only one chance at recovery — a team of robots that must protect and clone a lone surviving human baby. They just need to do this amidst the endless hordes of zombies who have been driven rabid by their frustration at inedible bots and their lust to eat the one living brain left on the planet.

Metal Gear Solid
IDW Publishing's comic book version of beloved Konami videogame, which detailed genetically-enhanced terrorists threatening the United States with nuclear annihilation and the world’s foremost expert in infiltration and espionage, Solid Snake and his attempts to preserve the peace, exploded onto the market in 2005. The 12-issue series showcased the vituosity of Ashley Wood's artist stylings, and the follow-up, Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty, is graced by Ash's linework as well. Four years after former FoxHound hero Solid Snake saved the day on Shadow Moses Island, a new terrorist organization known as Dead Cell has hijacked the environmental cleanup facility known as the Big Shell and taken the President of the United States hostage. In response to their threat, FoxHound agent Raiden must join forces with a mysterious Navy Seal known as Pliskin to rescue the President and neutralize Dead Cell, whose leader is said to be none other than Solid Snake himself!

Popbot is a postmodern, stream-of-consiousness joyride, a glorious hodgepodge of ricocheting ideas that slowly unravels into a suspenseful story of lust and revenge.

A semi-regular ongoing series, Popbot will change the way you look at comics. Straight from the mind of Ashley Wood, Popbot features an eclectic cast of characters including a rock-star kitty cat, his robot bodyguard, Sherlock Holmes, Andy Warhol, and sexy groupies.

Popbot is the winner of the Communication Arts 2002 Award of Exellence for Illustration, and has won 2 Spectrum Gold Awards for excellence in Advertising and Comics. Issue 7 of the series is due out in April 2006.
