PVK2 Beta 2.2 is available in both a full installation for those of you who haven't already gotten an earlier version, and a smaller patch as well for you dedicated fans out there. "We will be releasing demos for both the Xbox and for the PC. I don't know what the date is for release on that, though. I think it's going to contain the first part of one of the campaigns. I think it'll probably be Hospital but I'm not sure. That's a decision that Doug Lombardi is making."
As you can tell from the above quote, there is currently little known about the demo other than the fact that it is indeed coming. The demo will feature both single-player and online co-op modes of the demo maps and not just one or the other. For the full article, click here.

DIPRIP Media Update & New Gameplay[ Comment ] 9:54 PST | John Phillips | Print News | Category: Half-Life 2Die in Pain, Rest in Peace continues to grow with the developers adding more and more content everyday. Their latest achievement is the addition of the "Destruction" game mode where one team has to deliver a small nuclear device to their opponents area. Along with the game mode itself is the latest version of the Source engine, giving the nuclear blasts a very nice, thoughbeit deadly, look.
The screenshots also show off a new map known as Dam, specifically designed for this new style of DIPRIP gameplay. Click here if you want to check out the DIPRIP demo, additional media, everything else they have to offer.

To enter the beta, open the Settings dialog from your Steam client and click on the "Change..." button under "Beta participation." From there, select the "Steam Client Candidate" and click OK and restart when prompted.
The patch addresses mainly bugs, but it also includes a few new features such as new helpful HUD effects and the new ability to name your parrot!

Fixed arrows sometimes pushing the enemy towards the attacker instead of pushing him away.
Added a delay before teams can be switched again after joining a team.
Kegs that explode after the thrower has died no longer increase the special bar.
Fixed berserking health boost not working correctly when the player already has the health boost for holding the grail
Fixed Blunderbuss special reload exploit.
Fixed pickup respawn issue in deathmatch maps.
Fixed the grail overlay being too bright/obtrusive.
Fixed attacks doing 1.4x the normal damage against the grail holder.
Fixed +1 death caused by autoteambalance.
Fixed some reported client-side crashes.
Health and armor bars now flash white when getting the instant health and armor bonus for killing the grail carrier.
Added a hud effect when being healed by the grail.
Added support for loading maps/mod_textures_mapname.txt for support custom map custom death notices.
Added Parrot Naming ability. Defaults to Polly (name can be changed in multiplayer advanced options).
Added Donator Icons.
Added a status_pvk2 console command which prints name steamid and parrot name for each player.

Along with bug fixes, 2.1 offers several new maps and loads of new and interesting features and enhancements.
To get fans excited for the release, the team has released some new media, including an 8:25 long video.
Fortress Forever 2.1 is set to release this coming Friday, September 12. So whether you're a dedicated fan or this is the first you've heard, you should definitely head on over to fortress-forever.com and check out the rest of the media.

Steam Client Updated[ Comment ] 17:49 PST | John Phillips | Print News | Category: SteamA large update has been released for the Steam client adding some much needed bug fixes (including the annoying shutdown crash with Source games on Vista) and adding localization for the Czech and Hungarian languages. The full changelog is as follows:

Optimized where clients get the list of available applications and subscriptions
Under-the-hood Steamworks API improvements for future titles
Changed desktop .ico files and games list .tga files to be downloaded on demand, instead of being a blocking download during startup
Fixed serverbrowser not refreshing the internet list the first time it was displayed if it was right on startup
Fixed hardware survey not always saving that you said you did not want to participate
Fixed IMs from popping up while in-game
Fixed the bug that removes one character per line of copied text when pasting into a chat text entry

Fixed some bad text in Polish in the Friends list
