BEIJING -- Jamaica not only has the king of sprints, it has the queens as well.

Twenty-four hours after Usain Bolt set the world record in the men's 100 and his fellow Jamaican, Asafa Powell, finished fifth, Jamaican women swept the medals Sunday in the women's 100 at the Bird's Nest.

Shelly Ann-Fraser finished first in 10.78 seconds, well ahead of silver medalist Sherone Williams and bronze medalist Kerron Stewart, who were both timed in 10.98.

Lauryn Williams of Miami, the silver medalist in Athens, was fourth and Muna Lee of College Station, Texas, was fifth. Torri Edwards of Irvine was eighth.

Maybe this will be enough for NBC and the American media to look away from Michael Phelps for a brief second and appreciate the significance of this world class performance from a developing country of only 3 million people.

Great for them! Im glad they won!

Asafa Powell did not finish 3rd in the 100 meters. Walter Dix of the US was third, Powell was fifth.

For a nation of less than 3 million people, this is an amazing accomplishment. The United States Track and Field team needs to ask itself, "what is Jamaica doing that we are not". Bravo!

Proud " yardie".

BIG UP JAMAICA!!

Wow, its been a bittersweet weekend here in Kingston, because while we are very very happy that BOLT won gold, we are disappointed about Asafa. While we thank god for SHELLY's achievement we are disappointed that the US team should try to diminish our achievement by protesting.

Everything is everything though, and we still singing One Love (although, that should be TWO Love now, 100m men, 100m women LOL)

When Jamaica done with Bejing, we going to need a separate plane to carry medals alone! 100m men BOLT, gold.100m w SHELLY gold. SHERONE silver. Kerron Silver. 200m men BOLT gold. 200m women VERONICA gold. 4x100m men GOLD. 4x100m women GOLD. 400m women Ms WALKER GOLD. 110m hurdles silver. and we not finished yet!!

And even though they have no individual Olympic gold medals, big up our champions, MERLENE OTTEY, ASAFA POWELL, TRICIA SMITH. The love caan done!
