Greetings

Welcome to the Colorado Springs Chess News website!

This chess website is dedicated to providing a source for sharing information about chess to the Colorado Springs and surrounding area’s chess community.

You can receive the FREE newsletter by email using the form below.  Once you receive the newsletter, you can send in your own chess news or chess games by replying to the email address.  Also, you are encouraged to send in chess pictures (jpeg).

Colorado Springs Chess Newsletter

The newsletter began on March 1, 2004 as a way for me to receive and distribute any last minute schedule changes about local chess events and to put to use the analysis and publishing features of my Fritz 8.  However, I soon realized that I liked reporting on the results of my local club and adding some humorous comments about the games I was publishing.  So, during my chess season (typically February to August) the newsletter will contain at least a couple of articles from me (This Week In Chess and Game Of The Week).  Every now and then, I will receive chess news, chess games, or other chess stuff from my readers, which I am more than happy to include, as I think it makes for a better newsletter.  It doesn’t matter where you are from or what the news is about (as long as it is about chess); you are welcome to contribute.

Colorado Springs Chess News On The Web

You can find the Colorado Springs Chess News in several places on the web now.

The Colorado Springs Chess News Yahoo! Group started in October 17, 2006 as a way to replace the now-defunct guest book feature.  The guest book had been used to post chess games and news items, ask questions, locate long lost friends, advertise chess products and websites, and just encourage me.  But now, the Yahoo! Group can do all that and more.  Members can upload their own photos and files, create their own polls, or just keep in touch with emails during the off-season.  If you’d like to check out the Colorado Springs Chess News Yahoo! Group, just click on this link:

The Colorado Springs Chess News Online Store began on October 30, 2006 with the now world-famous “Kissing Knights” logo on a wide variety of products like t-shirts, golf shirts, sweatshirts, baby bibs, mugs, steins, tile boxes, mouse pads, clocks, teddy bears, caps, bags, calendars, journals, and greeting cards.  So, if you are looking for some chess-related gifts for Christmas, birthdays, or just to encourage someone, be sure to check out the store here:

If you are inspired to start a store because of me, be sure to enter my shop ID (cs_chess) in the referred by box.

How To Find Things In Past Newsletters

If you are interested in finding something in a past newsletter, the search feature can help.  You can use lower case, and the search engine will locate both upper and lower case instances.  You can use double quotes to search for an exact phrase, AND to narrow your search, OR to expand your search, or NOT to exclude pages that are not relevant.  Since the links to the click-and-move chess games are only found in the newsletters, the search feature is the easiest way to locate specific openings, specific players, or specific topics you like and see if the items have ever appeared in any of the past newsletters.
