For the first time in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest, two Semi-Finals will be held to decide which 25 countries will be represented in the Final. The Final of the contest will be taking place on the 24th of May, just like the first ever Eurovision Song Contest in 1956.
The voting during the show
Citizens of each country vote by telephone or SMS. The country's 10 favourites are awarded 12, 10, then 8 through 1 points based on votes. All 45 countries present their awarded points, totalling to determine the winner.
France, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom and host country Serbia will be voting in one of the two Semi-Finals. Two of them will vote in one Semi-Final, three of them in the other. Who will be voting in which country will be determined by draw, also on the 28th of January.
