Spy Shots 203: White Van, Green Screen
I've spent over a year on the set of Californication. A year in which I've witnessed many a poignant scene. From Mia telling Becca how deeply she misses her dead mother. To Karen helping Hank overcome the pain of his father's death. And so on...
This scene -- with the white van and the green screen -- not one of those scenes. In fact, so delightfully debased was this scene -- that our 1st A.D. Anthony had to shout out "Vital personnel only!" prior to the cameras rolling. That's a set euphemism for "If you're not a producer or some s***, get the f*** off the set, bitch, because some dirty s*** is about to go down."
Without spoiling anything, I'm proud to report this scene features five of my favorite things in life:
- A sleazy former public access television host.
- A chiseled, shirtless African American gent.
- Chuck "I gotsta f***" Runkle.
- An actress who's had a couple funny roles in some Judd Apatow joints.
- A very twisted conception about what it means to ride a van.
That's all I'm giving you, people. Piece that s*** together if you can. Big ups to s/he who comes closest.
Oh, and that's the back of the king's throne. Where I was presumptuously sitting right before Anthony kicked me off the set.
Whereupon I retreated to my office. My spirits down. My head hung low. My pervy attempts to see a little flesh, foiled. But then...waiting for me...holding a purple seven in one hand and the keys to my heart in the other, was my office-mate...my Leah. An indescribably depraved vid queued up on her laptop. Ready to soothe my wounded soul.
F***, this job's surreal.
To paraphrase the immortal Fletch F. Fletch, God I admire you.
My best guess for the scene in question involves a stickshift, Todd "Crazy Eyes Killah" Carr, and hopefully Elizabeth Banks (but more realistically, and still intriguing, Leslie Mann)...
All these teasers are giving me a blue broner. Maybe a video clip from the set is in order?

Umm, ew?
I'm going with Judy Greer as the actress. She's already played a working girl on the show, after all, which would be right up Charlie's alley.

Ewwww, more Charlie 'O' face, I presume? I'm dying for this season. Seriously, I've gone too long without Californication. And I'm hankering for...well, you get the idea.

Hello,
Can you tell me who designed Karen's wedding dress at the end of Californication season 1 ? Please please please...
Kisses
