As summer approaches lets take a look at some nice warming websites. Today we look at some of the best examples of orange websites. If you missed them, go take a look at the other colors in the series.
We actually run one of the featured pages http://www.FriendsEAT.com and when we were working with our design team we kept hitting into the question “What color makes you hungry?” We looked at plenty of other community websites and kept telling ourselves, these maybe cool sites but they don’t have the feeling of food. They used pictures not layout to give their feeling. The industry calls them food porn but I am fan of slick clean css driven design. Sites that stand on their own without having to get high gloss istockphotos on their homepage. We are confident our design gives a good vibe and our recent beta launch , we are doing good things for a “mom and pop website”. Come visit us.
WOOOOOOOOOOW! THIS IS TERRIBLE! wannaburger is the biggest ripoff of whataburger. Whataburger is the best burger chain in the South. This is a travesty.

Nice list!
Even though most of these websites look pretty good I’m not fond of many of them, basically because of the overpowering use of the colour orange. The sites using orange as the more or less supporting colour look better to me.
I built an orange website as my personal homepage long ago (back around 97) and it is still up (though non-updated since 99) and it still looks stylish:
unfortunately, me and the color orange have issues (colourblind to orange.. makes designing a challenge sometimes!) but the feel for these sites is still great, lots of solid work to play off here!

Here is an orange site that I developed, http://www.fitnovo.com , and though it might not be quite up to par with the others yet, we have a whole new design coming in the next two weeks - more attractive and still orange. We are also making the site totally free, in case anyone is interested.

Not that keen on the pixel look - looks a bit dated.

Orange is a hard color to use appropriately. In fact, my friend wrote a song about understanding it . . . its actually good!
