Yesterday, the New York Times published an article on questionable McCain donations bundled by Florida businessman Harry Sargeant III. At the bottom of the article, one of the unusually generous donors explains his feelings on the candidate:

Faisal Abdullah, a Palestinian immigrant who works as a director of operations of a window treatment company, identified himself in an interview as the driver behind the McCain donations from his relatives and friends. He sent them to Mr. Abu Naba'a, whom Mr. Abdullah described as an acquaintance. ...

He told his friends and relatives that the contributions were tax-deductible, something he later seemed surprised to learn from a reporter was not true. Many in his circle appear to have little affection for Mr. McCain but said they gave mostly as a favor to Mr. Abdullah.

Abdullah Makhlouf, the owner of a discount stereo store who is one of Mr. Abdullah's closest friends, and his wife contributed $9,200.

"He's like a worse copy than Bush," Mr. Makhlouf said of Mr. McCain.

When a reporter initially contacted Mr. Makhlouf, he denied giving to the McCain campaign.

After eventually admitting to the donation, Mr. Makhlouf added, "I'm still not going to vote for him."

TPM adds that Sargeant and Naba'a are being sued for allegedly defrauding a Jordanian business partner out of profits from a U.S. military contract -- a deal that's being investigated by Rep. Henry Waxman.

Makes you wonder how his campaign staff can even look at themselves in the mirror knowing what they must know.

Reagan is better than Nixon. Bush is better than Reagan. Bush is better than Bush. The republicans always admit that the last one was bad but the new one will be better...more moderate and less insane. Now for once a refreshing change!

Okay so we have Faisal Abdullah and Abdullah Makhlouf, both apparently Palestinian immigrants and both contributing heavily to the McCain campaign (or influencing others to do so) even though apparently neother of them have much affection for the guy. So these people come over here (yes, I said "these people", how scandalous!) and, given the chance to participate in a politlcal process that is unheard of in their culture, they apparently approach it with an eye primarily on their own business / financial interests. I mean clearly they lack any shred of real political spirit or integrity because it comes across like they are supporting McCain not because they believe in his message or think he's going to be good for the country, but rather because they make the same tired old assumption that the GOP is the friend of business both big and small.

It quite honestly sickens me that these folks could be so disingenuous.

I don't think disingenuous is the right word, ignorant maybe?

very simple:

he didn't donate, it's a rube
he denied it
they told him to lie and he'd get a tax write-off (probably threatened him)
now - he's attempting to play both sides of the blade

dada!

Have any of you looked at Obama's Palestinian ties? They are there... Obama has met these people and hmmmm I think it was somebody by the name of Tony Rezco who introduced them.

Talk about "undesirable coherts".

News flash... the political scene is small and they are all running all over each other to get to the top...

Obama is NO BETTER... in fact he might be worse.

That won't work; Rezko also donated to Bill and Hill Clinton, "W" Bush, Ed Rendell, Antonio Villaragosa etc., what are you trying to say??

Cute. An article about McCain fleecing Palestinians, and you get a jab at Obama. Concentrate on the fact that McCain and his merry band of lobbyist/thieves are EXACTLY the same as bushco. That is criminals out to screw the populace.

Has McCain had an ongoing relationship with this guy? Has he met in closed quarters with him? Did McCain befriend this guy? Does he even know who he is?

Just checking?

The article is not about Mac, it's about people fooled or tricked into donations for a guy they think really stinks.
Hehehehe.

As I understand it, being someone's driver gets you five-and-a-half years in the slammer, right? He certainly was furnishing material support for McCain!

And of course, we will not hear one word from the corporate media. Not even his comments about his wife participating in the sleazy contest. Now change the name on this stories, and put O's name. What would you think would happen? We would be watching the stories 24/7 on every channel.
I hear the Repug critize blog sites and bloggers. They know the truth rules these sites. I hope one day the "internets" take over and we can get rid of the MSM for news.

I'm surprised that they didn't splash the sleazy contest all over the news. After all, if you are a low life liar with several homes (how many do the McCains have?) it's cool but if you are a gentleman then it's elitist.

What?....Excuse me......What? Nearly as strange as the very stupid woman from South Carolina who was working for the state Republican Party, who, during the primaries, said she could not remember why she could not vote for McCain, but was sure someone told her she must not vote for him. Maybe that was her daughter in the beauty pageant. What!?....What???!!!! See what we're up against? Scarry.....CFF
