Asunción, 12/08/2008 (SPS) Paraguay and the Saharawi Republic decided to resume diplomatic relations and cooperation, according to a press release of the Paraguayan Minister for Foreign Affairs, published on Tuesday in Asunción.
"The two countries agree to strengthen their diplomatic relations, and relations of friendship and cooperation conforming to the norms and principles of the international law", the text indicated.
The press release was published in the end of a meeting that took place between the Saharawi Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Salem Ould Salek and his Paraguayan Minister, Ruben Ramirez Lezcano.
Mr. Ould Salek, was also received by the Minister of Paraguay, Nicanor Duarte Frutos, during the visit, it was indicated.
"The recognition of the Saharawi Republic, by Paraguay, is a new acquisition for the Saharawi people in the path of the establishment of the RASD and her positioning in its natural place amid nations", a Spokesperson of the Saharawi Ministry for FA declared to the Saharawi Press Service, SPS.
The strengthening of the diplomatic relations between the Saharawi Republic and Paraguay comes few days after the recognition by Vanuatu of the RASD, it should be recalled. (SPS)
