Rangers want Stuart McCall to transform Dean Furman – into the next Stuart McCall!

The young South African, who is with City until January 5, plays the same central-midfield role as the gaffer.

People at Rangers have said that I’m quite similar to Stuart McCall in the way I play, which is a good thing

Dean Furman

And the highly-rated Furman hopes to pick up some tricks of the trade during his time under the Ibrox Hall of Famer.

He said: “People at Rangers have said that I’m quite similar to Stuart McCall in the way I play, which is a good thing. So I’m trying to learn a lot off him while I’m down here.

“Stuart is a living legend for Rangers as part of the nine-in-a-row squad and I’m well aware of his past. As soon as you mention his name, people always talk about what he achieved.

“Sometimes on loan you can get overlooked but there’s a close bond there between Stuart and Rangers. He worked under Walter Smith years ago and played with Ally McCoist so the link will always be there, which is good for me.

“It’s weird but Rangers are more than a club. There is this hold over you and obviously Stuart played for them for a long time.”

McCall, who likens Furman to Nicky Law, has already been imp-ressed by what he has seen in training.

And the 20-year-old, who left Cape Town for Lon-don when he was five, is eager to make an impression as soon as possible to force his way in.

Furman added: “It’s always nice to be joining a team at the top rather than a struggling one. But obviously it’s all the harder for me to get into the team because they are going well.

“Coming from Rangers means nothing, it’s all about performance. I’ve got to take every chance to prove what I can do and fight for a place.

“It’s always difficult coming into a new club but you can see there’s a good spirit in the camp and I’m sure I will settle in quickly.”

Furman caught the eye in pre-season and had planned to shelve any loan plans until Christmas in case first-team opportunities cropped up at Ibrox in the meantime.

But a flurry of midfield captures in recent weeks convinced the youngster it was right to look elsewhere sooner.

“I’ve been involved in Old Firm games and cup finals in Scotland. Obviously I’ve not got on, but you take in as much as you can from the sidelines and the experience is unbelievable.”

Rangers will keep close tabs on Furman during his time south of the border and reserve chief Tommy Wilson will make regular scouting trips to Valley Parade.

Meanwhile, rookie centre half Adrian Bellamy has joined Salford City on a two-month loan.

If Stuart McCall makes Dean Furman into a replica of Stuart (from Stuarts' playing era)- then 'Rangers' will not get Dean Furman back!. He will be held captive, at Bradford City AFC- ad infinitum!!.

I noticed on last nights footy news briefs, that NICKY LAW has NOT been offered a contract. There are TWO days to the Transfer deadline 01-09-08. Is Nicky Law still rated?, and is it possible to get him back, within this tight time frame?.

I am looking forward to watching Dean Furman-perhaps at 'Bell-end' Road! on Tuesday?.

Furman might be good and will want to impress so that's cool but wouldn't we be better off with Law signed full time and properly committed to us?

you are quite right but it seems the management are on a different wave length to you,and no doubt the usual head in the sand brigade will knock you.

Micksey - Wibsey.
My sentiments exactly,if Stuarts wage limits can accommodate Nicky Law? Plus 'Deano' Furman.

Not impressed city! Should be beating sides like Aldershot if we're gonna go up! Is it coincidence that Clarke goes off injured then we ship 3 goals?

why be disheartened after todays defeat spenvalley at aldershot have a good home record over last 3 seasons we had to lose sometime and i bet they win more than they lose or draw at home its how we bounce back that matters after first 4 games if you would have been told we had 9 points would you have not took that at start of season bet every fan would have the worrying part for me is clarkey we concede one goal in 3 and half games then when he gets injured we concede 3 in 45 mins it shows we need him badly no disrespect to bower but i would have played tj along side lee as he as pace something we dont have at the back when clarkey is not there at least we are scoring 2 goals a game which is promotion material

as for nicky law stu may make a move now plymouth have said they dont want him after his trial

Anybody go to the game? Does anybody think that the score would have been different if Clarky hadn't got injured? Whats up with Clarky? Do we need another centre back b4 the transfer deadline on monday? Anybody with a postmortum of todays game?

Naturally upset we lost today but listening to it they ran us ragged and we are gonna lose a few games this season. At the end of the day we were beaten by 2 wonder goals that sounded like they could grace the premiership take them out of the mix and we would have won.Devastated about Clarke thought he was awesome last weekend and not sure about Bower anymore (sorry Bowser).
And to finish Stuart your a god BUT OMAR DALEY IS NOT!!!! A STRIKER!!!! he had a poor game and needed to be replaced not moved up front hes a sprinter in football boots.

just got back from the game. when city went infront 1.0 we looked comfortable but the injury to clarky set us back afew paces i dont know the extent of the injury but he had to be replaced, as soon as bower come on we were all over the place but managed to hang on 1-0 halftime by the way it was redhot down there think it was 76 deg second half aldershot gave everything and deserved to get a goal back you could see it comeing, but then it got worse city had a penalty saved a shot saved of the line from omar daley and a shot from thorney saved well by there keeper so on another day we could of won but it wasnt our day but dont lose heart because if we play like that we will go up no doubt about that. Sorry son1jacobs but I have to agree with you. Just not in the game yesterday and I am very in looking at the league table although after only 4 games all the teams we have beaten are in the bottom half and Macclesfield lost by 6 at home yesterday. Lets hope we can improve as Aldershot were not special yesterday. Didn't get value for well over £100.

Yes I Know we're underdogs this tuesday but after losing yesterday I'm dreading playing them. I hope Clarky isn't out for long as we could be in trouble at the back. Don't have much faith in Bower anymore and I don't know how Moncur will fare there. Whens Brandon coming back? Seems to be turning into our version of Darren sicknote Anderton!! A little surprised Boulding wasn't replaced by another striker!

The BBC Live text Match Stats says posssession was 50/50 so not sure we were'run ragged'. Also we had 7 corners to their 5. It was inevitable that we would lose at some point. however if we van get a draw at Port Vale and beat Exeter and Bournemouth then it will be set up for the visit to Shrewsbury who will be one of the teams to challange at this rate.

Ah well , no surprises just disappointed again! in all the years supporting City this sort of thing has happened to us....I remember it used to be John Dungworth who always scored for Aldershot against us.
Going to L**ds on Tuesday but NO official coach seats left anyone know if another coach is proposed by the club or if there is a private coach company putting on some travel?????
